Lord, when will this stupidity end? With all the real crime in this country the Feds are picking easy, innocent targets. Such criminals! These "bad" criminals seek to help folks who are suffering. What do they get for their efforts? Jail! How can these idiot pigs sleep at night?

Chalk up another one for the big $$ pharma police...wheather they know it or not these lumpheads are protecting the synthetic chemical companies, the worst, most deadly pushers in history. Like Steppenwolf said, God damn the pusher man! I do not 'cuss' online, but these guys are too much. In this context I do not think of GD the pusherman as cussing. My heart breaks for these people the pigs are persucuting.

Where is freedom? Where is sanity & common sense? It is certainly not to be found in the US Federal Gov.

Medical Marijuana Patient Reports for Federal Prison

Scores of Californians Await Similar Fate

SAN FRANCISCO – Another medical marijuana patient was incarcerated in federal prison today. Stephanie Landa, 60, reported to federal authorities in San Francisco to begin a 41-month sentence for her part in growing medical cannabis as part of a patient collective there. At least another 91 Californians are facing a similar fate, as medical-marijuana related arrests and prosecutions have escalated since 2005, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled federal charges may be brought against patients and their caregivers and providers, despite state laws protecting them.

“Putting anyone in prison for following a doctor’s advice and trying to help others is a waste of tax dollars and wrong by any measure,” said Steph Sherer, ASA’s executive director. “Washington needs to put this money into helping patients, not arresting them.”

Despite requests from Congress, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) refuse to account for the money being spent on medical cannabis raids and prosecutions. Based on budget reports provided by the DEA, DOJ and local law enforcement agencies, ASA estimates that the raids and prosecutions of the past 18 months have cost taxpayers in excess of $9 million, not counting the cost of incarceration or the lost wages and productivity of those arrested.

All were arrested since the U.S. Supreme Court decision in 2005 that medical cannabis patients and their caregivers and providers can be federally prosecuted, reversing the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that such activities were outside federal jurisdiction.

Ms. Landa’s case drew attention because San Francisco police apparently turned her and two others over to federal prosecutors. The three had met with the city’s district attorney and police officials before beginning cultivation. Ms. Landa and her co-defendants -- Tom Kikuchi, her partner, and Kevin Gage, a noted Hollywood actor, -- accepted a plea agreement in 2003 when the federal prosecutor threatened them with charges that, in Ms. Landa’s case, could have meant life in prison. Unlike California state law, federal law does not allow for a medical defense in the case of patients who use it on their doctor’s recommendation. Ms. Landa begins her sentence now because the judge allowed her to care for her and Mr. Kikuchi’s child while he served his sentence.

For a breakdown of the estimated DEA and other prosecution costs, see ASA’s website at http://www.safeaccessnow.org/downloads/DEA_cost.pdf.

Unfortunately control of the US has fallen into the hands of corrupt pigs like Cheney.

wake up America your leaders are primarily interested in thier own wars, not the needs of the people

the titans of the corporate world rule the corridors of the White House and gamble with your future with the same interest one may use to play Monopoly.

Never the less America will quickly lose its powerful grip on the world as the rapidly approaching end of oil announces itself

I am a Christian. Check out Christiansforcannabis.com. Not my site, but I joined up.

Please remember that a lot of peeps who claim to be Christians are phoneys. This fulfills Jesus' prediction when He said "Many will come in My Name..." like G Bush & others. Then the media says "See! Such & such is a Christian but he's corrupt..." or what ever & try to get every one to think ALL Christians are the same. i love Jesus. But that does not mean I'm the boss of every one. Lord knows I have hard enough a time being boss of me!

Some one said something about oil running out. But that is not the truth. It is Reefer Madness style propaganda like global warming. They say the same thing over & over but the repetition does not make it true. Peak oil is designed to keep the big $$ flowing to big oil co's. Global warming is to get nations to sign on to the Kyoto Accord & give up some national sovreignty to the United Nations.

What was said about the US falling into evil hands is very true. Big money rules & corruption is sooo widespread. Here & around the world. What a mess! Now they are taking National ID. Next it will be a push for RFID chipping. Big bro is a busy body who wants to control everything & every one. No sense of live & let live...

Later peeps! Hope you have a really green New Year! :) I'm workin on that me own self!
