This is my first post on here, but seeing as its a subject close to my heart I thought id add my two cents worth.

Firstly sprinklers do absolutely no damage to roots at all, the roots in an aero system become so freakishly healthy that a small sprinkler like that aint gonna do a thing to them.

I built an aero system about ten years ago usin g the crates from the fish market, with a rigged plastic lid and expanded clay in mesh pots. I lifted the hps from parliament house in victoria (my political statement) and scored the pumps from bunnings in the city (i used to be bit light fingered in my youth)

Im gettinbg ready to have another crack in a wardrobe with an aero system. The one advantage I could see to using misters is the noise factor, could someone post up some pics of them, I live near major irrigation supply store so it shouldnt be a prob getting them.

Heya Gaz

looks like an excellent setup and I'll be watching out for developments .. hope you will get it running soon.

I reckon you'll have to watch for the roots finding their way out of the return holes ... but once there is a nice mat at the bottom of the tub, shouldn't be a problem from my experience .... I solved the water return noise by keeping the lower rez topped up to the point where there is hardly any distance for the drop to drop ... sounds like you got it solved with the return pipes though :scratchin: nice one .. will have to try that myself.

I have to remove and clean/swap over the mister heads .. mini spinners I think they're called .. from Bunnings .. they take about 2 weeks to clog, then as Chato said, using a hole that has no plant in it (just a netpot full of clayballs) I reach in, unscrew the emitter and change it over ... its pretty quick and with a bit of a clean the blocked ones are good to go again .. I use a wooden toothpick to clean mine out ..

will post some pix of my emitter setup with the next set in my GD. In the meantime, you can probably find some good pix of the tubs and inards of my aero setup near the beginning of my first GD ..... (found 2 pix on Page 6 of my first grow, Post # 44

Looking forward to seeing your setup in action Gaz :freak:

Just wondering if anyone has tried using an air pump and a couple bubble curtains to make the nute mist instead of forcing water through a sprayer or sprinkler. Seems like when you push nute solutions through a small aperture, it'll clog fairly readily. Good bubble curtains last a year or so before they get too crusty to work.
