Man charged over cannabis find

A 40-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after police found more than 500 cannabis plants at a house in Adelaide's north-eastern suburbs.

 

Police said the plants were found last night growing in four rooms in a large garage at a property at Hillcrest.

 

About 15 kilograms of dried cannabis and a quantity of cash was also found.

 

The man was charged with producing and possessing cannabis for sale and with stealing electricity after wiring and lights for the cannabis plants were rerouted around the electricity meter.

 

He was granted police bail to appear in the Holden Hill Magistrates' Court at a later date.

if he didnt steal the electricity he would have been fine when will commercial growers come to their senses and relize that having a huge power bill, while suspect, if paid wont get you busted

Geez, that's a small perso grow, I woulda thought at least 50 pounds minimum to qualify as "amateur perso grow".....

 

Silly buggers... people won't chase you if you don't steal from them, and that includes power companies.... it's not like you don't turn a humungous profit even with the highest cost per kw/h in the country working against ya....

id be more inclined to say that selling such a large quantity of dope on a regular basis is going to bring on the heat as opposed to taping the power.

Oh yeah, that's certainly a factor in this case, but I hear of it entirely too often. People think they'll get caught if they don't steal power and so steal power and get caught.
