Someone make it REAL simple...

Recommended Posts

I looked at the "simple" setup...it wasn't. Not for me anyhows...I'm lookin' at making this real uncomplicated.

Ok, so I'm gonna get the 400W Son T agro light...what that is, I don't know...just that it has the right kinda wattage for what I'm looking at, and the right price range.

A small cupboard or wardrobe, I'll find. and make the neccessary alterations.

Canna, whatever that is, I can get. (but need to know when to use it, and how)

Pots for my plants, well...sure, I'm thinking large ones.

As for what to grow them in, I could use suggestions there.

Ventillation...don't really know what to do here.

I'll be growing (Ive decided) only 2 plants at a time initially.

I'll be the watering system.

Don't have a great deal of revenue to start with, so...somebody make it REAL simple...

What do I need to do here, what do I need to get, and, am I missing anything absolutely neccessary.

Thanks, I'll be interested in a look at your replies.

if you want to spend the smallest amount of money possible on an indoor grow i recommend using a 50/50 mix of coco and perlite for your medium. its cheap, recyclable, can be hand watered, plants only needs watering every 2-3 days, etc. its alot like soil, but grows plants at near hydro speeds :applause:

if you decide to go with coco/perlite and need any help or advice, i have used the shit for years and would be glad to answer any questions you have via PM or on here :applause:

ventilation will be an issue in summer, you'll need a fan extracting air, one blowing over the plants and possibly one blowing air into the grow room :applause: you might be able to stinge out and get away with only using a $15 fan from woolies, but you'll have to make sure the doors of the wardrobe are left open and the room it is in is light sealed + has the ability to exchange air so it doesnt go stale

why dont we just grow it 4 ya

and u can meet us down the road to pick it up!!!

:applause: just giggin man

imo if u only doin 2 plizants under a 400

thats a good number imo id go 2 x 510mm pots

in a satellite sysem maybe in hydroton

with a reservoir feeding every 2.5 hours as we move into summer

for nutes u mentioned canna, get some canna vega and flora

make sure u get yourself a truncheon or similar for measuring your ec

and a ph meter for regulating ya ph

remember to keep it symple, that way if something goes wrong its easy to get sorted

sukonmiskunks guide to a wardrobe buil;d is the ducks nuts

and always remember ventilation and fresh air are your best friend

goood luck and take care

peace

ventilation i dont know how stealth u require but if u can cop loud fans then go a nice centrifugal type

other ortions for air in and exhaust are a couple of 250mm in line fans and there is a continuos rated bathroom type exhaust fan on the market by lenco

and maybe at the back of ya drobe a passive intyake air vent

g'day; cheapest and easiest........buy some 10" or 300mm pots, add some $5 general purpose potting mix, add seed to each pot approx 10mm-15mm below surface, pointed end up or lying sideways, place pots under light approx 15" below globe (to test best light distance.....place hand at top of pot or plant,if light starts to burn hand within 5minutes,move light further away from top of plant). keep a normal desk fan blowing on light for good cooling effect.add water and set power-timer for 18hrs light and 6 hrs of dark and you should see seedlings within 10days.

water daily or as required.

2 excellent suggestions to go with, both are simple and easy for the new grower and there's plenty of help available here if any problems arise.

Hi there Cheeba,

you into Morcheeba perhaps? But never mind your musical tastes my friend,we gotta give you some basic advice don't we?

A 400w light will give you excellent illumination for 3-4 plants max.A good general potting compost should be used but bare in mind these composts vary greatly. Some are too 'hot' for young canna plants and as I'm a Brit I can't recommend any as I don't know what is available to you guys and girls down under.

So somebody reading this please advise our man here on a good easily available compost. You don't have add perlite although I do use it at a 10% mix. You'll have to decide if you are going organic or will be using chemical salts.

Most important is adequate vent,as the plant uses CO2 from the atmosphere as a building block. Not enough CO2 and your plants just won't hack it.Early on in veg they'll cope with just a fan blowing on them but you MUST get proper vent and a carbon filter if smell might compromise your security.

I make my own carbon filters. All you need is a source of carbon particles. You'll need a thermometer which you use not only for taking your grow drobe temps but also to check the temp of the water you give your girls.21c is what you are looking for as too low and you will greatly lower the metabolic rate of your plants.

Too high a temp also causes plant stress and also invites bacteriological broblems.

One little tip though. Most peeps give their girls 18/6 in veg well there have been side by side comparison tests done in the UK by very experienced growers and they've found 20/4 to be the optimum.

All the best with your grow mate. :peace:

Sorry, forgot one point Cheeba.Somebody posted to say plant your seed in the pot that the plant is going to finish in.I used to do this but have learnt it's not the best practice because a large portion of that potting compost will do nothing but get wet and dry out,get wet and dry out.If you are feeding your plants nutrients they wont take it up in the part of the pot where the roots have not yet grown so you are reapplying feed when the previous feed has not been taken up by the plants so there is a chance of nute burn if you do it this way.

Pot up in stages as it's easier to handle small plants in small pots and you eliminate the risk of the above.

Even if you don't give aditional feed to your water for the first few weeks the calcium carbonate(the stuff that makes water hard)

in the water will accumulate only to be taken up by the plants later and you obviously want your bud as clean as possible so for the same reason it's best to pot up in stages.
