"80% of mentally ill use cannabis"

Recommended Posts

Virtually every person suffering mental illness is or has been subjected to the horrors of employment.

I say ban the JOB!

On a serious note, in reply to shrinks being bought, and people going mad from using them... I have a mate, he's in his 50s, and a number of years ago suffered a terrible series of bad scenes. He woke up to himself being in a bizzrae cult, and refused to hold their views anymore, and consequrently lost his entire "support group" of freinds. His wife remained in the group, and so hism arriage of nearly his entire life ended. His daughter died suddenly and unexpectredly at 21 years old one night, autopsies revealed no reason for her death. She just went to bed under his roof one night and she died.

His son and he went through a lot of serious mind adjustment. this all took place in a period of about 18 months.

In the end, my mate developed some seeriously opinionated, strong, harsh views of people and the world. Especially anti-women.

He's fairly wealthy, so off to the shrink he goes..to get help? No not at all, but to find an "expert" to qualify all his neagative views. He had to do a fair bit of scratching around, because he has so many strong aggresive views, it was admittedly difficult to find one that bent. But he did get the one he wanted, (there's plenty to choose from); and now he gets wound up about one of his hang ups, his strong opinions, and races off to the shrink spontaneously (you can get in with no appointment if you pay enough), and away he comes feeling all glowing inside for being in "the right".

The upshot is he's more mosoginst (sorry for the spelling), more aggressive and more "lost" in mad thoughts than ever before.

Seems like nothing's going to undoe his mind now, although I do hope.

This is one of the most liberal minded, easy going blokes I ever met..who had his life turned upside down, and instead of the professionals helping his come to terms with it all, have cemented his view that everyone's an arsehole except him.

Of course there's shrinks that do help people, but I believe that's basically because they were lucky enough to simply have the decent dframe of mind in the first place. It doesn't change the fact that these people inflict their own views on the minds of people who are in need. What else would they do? Help form a person into a belief system that is in contradiction to the one they themselves base their lives? That's never going to happen.

This bloke's own son undertook 6 years of study to become a profession head buster himself, just to hepo his dad!

You can buy reports on people's minds a lot easier than even we believe I think.

Great replies everyone ...

Everythings pretty much covered ... But I'll still have a say :punk: ...

Who really has any faith in the mental health system anyway ... let alone a dodgy report , by some Anti-Cannabis "reasearcher?" ...

80% they say? , I doubt it ... From what I've seen , many more 'Episodes' occur from alcohol use ...

Tho ofc alot of people use Cannabis to treat their symptoms , It does seem to help many people I know ... and why shouldn't it ..

It's the best treatment for especially depression Imho , along with a good 'situation' ... It's a bit hard to feel to good if yer homeless or in some other dire situation ..

They take none of these peoples personal situations into account .. It's just a number fantasy to try and prove a few ignorant peoples veiws ...

But say if it were 80% of these particular people with whatever problems (if they even do exist all) that used Cannabis really had problems ...

Well ... Too bad really , Because there are many more people than that who smoke everyday For years with no problems like that at all ...

So how can there be any real link at all?

It really is regrettable that they want to try and blame Cannabis for these problems ... without any credible evidence whatsoever ... Fuckerz! :punk:

o.k. I've been distracted , so I'll finish up ...

I say It's a Bullshit report :peace:

Fact is people who have mental problems will tend to be withdrawn and unhappy and therefore will take up a vice of some sort to cope. For some its drugs, for others it can be junk food, gambling, or any number of things really. these addictions can be destructive and worsen whatever mental condition you are already suffering from but this does not mean that they've caused the condition.

Association does not equate to cause and effect. :peace:
