Hey MongyMan,

My plan is to teach anyone who has the desire to learn this method. I have even stretchted this concept to include solar energy to run the system. Funny thing I have NO SUN !! The solar panels are charged via the HID lighting. It is working incredible right now. No herb in it now as the seeds I have are very precious and expensive. Have to have it perfect. Was having some problems with minor alage but solved that by adding 4 Pleco's to the res. Problem solved. Now need to figure a way to add natural Phos. to system come flower time. The emulsion ofcorse is high in nitrogen which works great for Veg as we all know, I figured I could use minimum Guano as a Phos source but am worried about the effects it will have on my fish? IF ANYONE HAS ADVICE ON THIS PLEASE OFFER!!!! Don't feel too safe munchin on fish that have been swiming in Bat shit.. Another Idea I had is to harvest the fish when I switch to Flower. Then I wouldn't have to worry about it? But it takes 2.5 months to harvest fish which leaves me with some monster plants when I switch to flower? Maybe a second Res? And alternate flood and drain from seperate tanks? Now I'm rambling. :xcited:

Peace all and will keep you posted!!!

i doubt this will help but have a look

In a well lit tank, excess phosphorus (phosphates) can lead to serious algae problems, so extra phosphate is almost never added. And most fish foods contain sizable amounts of phosphorus, so the plants will most likely be able to get as much as they need.

I have been reading a fair bit about this , since Aquaponix ( the person) convinced me it was well worth a shot .

You idealy want to learn a fair bit about fish and also about the plants cycle of life in general , it likes to have different levels of different trace elements during the growing and flowering stage , and you have to learn what these levels and requirements are so that you can provide a source for it. and Ofcourse knowing about your fish is a need , because like plants they have prefered atmospheres and if they are healthy they will ofcourse eatmore/produce more waste, and you have to be watching out for desiese issues in the tank and know what the signs for these are or you can loose allot if not all of your fish. so It is quite a detailed way to grow , but the benifit of a totally organic crop is very much worth it to some

Aquaponix , was very lightly mixing his res with 100% organic ferts on a dripper system that ensured his ec/ppm levels didn't get too high for the fish, and I belive thats how he made up for any lacking mineral salts, in the end its all about findign the ballance , I mean fish DON'T nesseceraly live in "clean" water you just have to find that happy medium where your fish are not disturbed and you get whatever your missing out on

What kind of fish are you using ? I am going to go with koi or carp I think
