Tank Conversion?

Sorry for shooting out all the questions here folks...just having ideas.

I have a fishtank at home, a relatively small unit, which my spiny leaf insect lives inside.

It has an openable lid, and an inbuilt light.

I actually threw in a couple of seeds just to see what was happenin'...and it worked...to an extent.

Mind you were talking about a tank with a normal fluro light, no nutrients, just some dirt down the bottom, some sticks and leaves.

I had like 10 seeds growing successfully in there for a bit, Feeding off the water I sprayed in for the insect every now and then, but ended up with tall stalky things with tiny leaves on top...they reached a certain height (very quickly actually), and just bent over and died.

However, evidently this thing has possibilities.

I was thinking...if I took the bottom out (after giving my girl a new home of course...) and threw on some kinda drainage stuff which I've yet to learn about, and replace the bulb bit at the top with a ??I don't even know what you call those lights yet??...did the appropriate research...etc...could I make it happen?

I mean I always assumed glass would be better for keeping smells in.

So you know what I'm talking about, this is the kind of model that gave me the idea:

but...I also see possibilities with something like this

The plants don't have to be tall, just nice and chunky...so, what do you "have grown before" folks think of this idea? is it a viable option?

its possible. not many micro growers on this site tho. If you google search for "micro grow" you'll probably find some grow diaries that will give you some ideas.

at the end of the day you got to decide how much you smoke and what size light might suit your needs. a few fluros in a micro setup are enough to keep some happy. Theres no law that says when you grow you have to start smoking an ounce a week. B)

the best fish tank conversion i have seen was done by a member of celtic stone, they turned it into a huge clone chamber B) i wouldnt bother with anything other than cuttings in a fish tank, imo you'd have much better luck with a wardrobe + smell will be an issue regardless of the chamber you use/make unless you have odour controll like a carbon filter B)
