Help with soil pls....

Hi there........

 

Just need a few tips with soil pls.........

 

For the past 3 years ive been buying this soil from a local Nursery called Heynes.........They make several types of soil, acidic etc..........

 

Anyway, i always buy the Neutral potting mix soil from them.........

 

Its ok i guess and my plants usually do average in it , but i would like to know what things i could add to the potting mix to give me a Great soil that will give my ladies an extra boost.... and give the soil a little more depth and hold to it...........

 

you know how some potting mixes when the top layer starts to dry out it hard to water......you usually have to spray the top surface with a spray bottle to moisten it before you can water properly........

 

What can i add to my soil to stop that and also give it a boost in nutrients ?

ditch the soil and go hydro thats all i will say..

you could try adding fertiliser

 

or hydro nutes, but that could be expensive

I add a few things; slow release organic fertiliser and mushroom compost are two of the best. I would also strongly suggest compost on top, this will help water penetration and retention.

I put a layer of hydroton clayballs on top of my soil to keep the moisture in and also helps to prevent fungus gnats

perlite

worm poo

kelp meal

bllood n bone

vermiculite

selected compost

 

also there are some gnarley organic teas around to throw over your girls for that lill extra kick

I used ta do hydo grows....nearly finished me first soil grow...if ya do a search on here for eikels' soil grow guide, that will be all that u need...results i've got are great....results are heaps better so far then the hydro grows.....
