oxydator

Recommended Posts

can using a oxydator be detrimental to beneficials living in the root zone and res tank, have searched and searched, no one has even heard of it, for those that havent, its a little gadget that sits in ya res with h2o2 in it, and converts it through a little catalyst in the oxydator through the pourous pot on base of the gadget.supposed to put out pure oxygen and water, no h202 comes in contact with the roots system,,can someone please shed some light.

These are supposed to provide a significantly higher proportion of 02, but really, if your tank is running at the right temps in the first place, plenty of oxygen is dissolved easily enough through an aerator and airstone.

I've seen pics and descriptions of these things. They're pretty new, so perhaps the best person to ask about whether it would harm beneficial bacteria/fungi in the tank would be the manufacturers of said product.

If it really does prevent the contact of the peroxide with the system, and only gives off o2 and water, then it would likely not harm any beneficials in the water. But I don't think you'd find such an item really necessary, unless your reservoir runs at very high temps which would reduce the solubility of oxygen in the water, (this would also affect the oxydator's efficiency though, so it would only be a marginal benifit) or if you for some reason couldn't just use an aerator and airstone.

I can see an application for this gadget. The more oxygen in your rootzone the faster your plants grow. One of the reasons for this is that in a highly oxyginated solution you can water your plants more regularly, or even constantly.

This is the main reason bubblers in general have faster growth rates than traditional hydro systems, and aero systems have faster growth rates again. :applause:

I found this site and thought it sounded interesting. http://www.maximumyield.com/productinfo85.htm

"The HydroGarden Oxydator does not need electricity; it is silent and perfectly safe.

The HydroGarden Oxydator can be used with organic additives, as it preserves beneficial bacteria or enzymes; the H2O2 (Essentials OxyPlus) is converted into O2 prior to its release from the capsule. (Originally designed for fish so it is 100% safe)

The HydroGarden Oxydator releases more oxygen when the water temperature in your reservoir rises, thus giving your nutrient solution more oxygen when it needs it!"

I dont' think airstones in ur tank quite do the trick. I use one myself, and it keeps the nutes circulating, which is a positive. And my air pump is a thumper. It's like a mini air compressor which turns my 200ltr barrel and 60ltr tub into a spa bath. But, when I add some oxyplus, the plants respond almost immediately. Leaves go up, and in a few days, the plants just about look as healthy as they can.

If oxydator can add more oxygen with out ruining the Organic then that sounds good. I'm a fan of h202, and have seen how much faster it makes ur plants grow. But I find that if you have to leave out the organic ingrediants and additives, it's at the expense of quality (like those crappy hydroponic tomatos you get from the supermarket that have no taste or flavour), so I dont' currently use it. Others have told me it doesnt' have negative effect on the quality of their end product. Hope this product works for you

"A very simple and economic product. For the first time you can use Oxy-Plus in conjunction with organic additives, because the Oxy-Plus never actually comes into contact with your nutrient solution. Even better, the warmer the temperature in you tank, the faster the reaction - so your nutrients get more oxygen exactly when they need it!"
