Driver Drug Tests-Your PERSONAL experiences?

A friend of mine got nailed last year , drove around a corner straight into a drug bus (no he didn't crash into them ) He had been smoking MJ , Ice and had had an E the day before ,he tested positive to all 3 , the triple whammy. He went into court with a barrister and copped a guilty plea and received a 6 month suspension and a small fine ($500 I think) I tried to talk him into contesting it but he was to chicken. I asked why he didn't tell them to go fuck themselves and he said he had pot on him a couple of points of ice in his shoe(?)( don't know nothing about it so I'm not sure how much this is) and an ice pipe, he said he was SUPER polite and as a result they never searched him or his car . He doesn't smoke ice any more gets his license back very soon and this year around Mardi Grass time he will be more cautious around the Nimbin Rd area. Edited March 7, 2009 by Jess Stone

I don't think driving high impairs you that much either. However it must change your driving skills somewhat. The only question is are you better when you're high or when you're not . Some people might be better off high because they concentrate more, I know I do, but some might just zone out all the time which obviously isn't good. This guy on Cannacom (the forum where I originally went on) also said he gets insane reflex skills when he's high.

 

But for the sake of getting Cannabis legalised I reckon we should not try and fight our right to drive stoned yet. Sure we can fight the saliva tests, but the scientists will probably do that for us anyway just because it's plain pseudo science which pisses them off.

 

i used to be good at driving stoned when i used to smoke all the time. Now that i dont smoke much its pretty hard to drive stoned. I reckon it depends on your tolerance to weed

i didnt have it personally but i was with a friend who had smoked and his eyes were red, the booze bussers asked himt o lick something and wait for 2 minutes then they did let him go, we both where stoned and had smoked around 3 joints around 40-45 mins before the swab,,,ohh yeah and had some mints too

I believe it. But I've only driven twice while being slightly stoned, couple of drags, and I was way better.

I have a reliable friend in trucking industry that swears by Original Listerine to beat the mouth swabs.

Of course they are on speed and the like but its still interesting. I keep one of those small bottles in glove box.

I ges the only way to find out for sure is if i get tested?? I dont drive during acute effects of MJ use, i used to

when i was younger and i smoked it, now i only eat it...i always felt fine crusing along a big main road or HWY

but i agree with other posts about busy situations with lights and traffic it can become overstimulating very quickly.

the thing about mouth swabs is that they are unreliable. I know someone who passed a swab test after smoking himself silly all weekend. the ony precaution he used was to stop smoking once he started driving.

 

the other one I heard is to just pretend to rub your tongue on the inside of your mouth if they ask dont actually do it. (they ask before some swab tests to increase the amount of saliva in your mouth)

 

again I cant vouch for the effectiveness of this, one guy did it and passed a test, then told me about it. so it must be true....

I recently got random stopped leaving an airport (random my arse they let smart cars through and stopped me in a scruffy old one) the pigs were having a field day - sniffer dogs, car inspections, computer hookup matching numberplates to persons of interest, you name it) Well I was really pissed off and I was rude to the pricks. They looked at my tyres, the dog sniffed the car, they put my details into the computer and they breathalised me, but they didnt give me a drug test!

Maybe they still havnt got it together on this one yet, and all the stuff they say on in the tv ads is wank (hype).

 

Regarding the pigs' plan to run sniffer dogs up and down queues outside nightclubs, I wonder now whether anyone has taken to sloppping bong water in the street outside the clubs before they open for the night, that would really stuff them up haha

About 6 months ago they were running trials here for a few weeks.

 

I can't remember where or why i was going but i'd smoked heaps over the last few hours... looked whacked too.

 

The cop takes one look at me and says come with me please sir...

 

The pig bade me sit outside of this big long caravan lookin drug test trailer or whatever it is...

 

They took a saliva swab...

 

I'm sitting there for 15 minutes trying not to peak out thinkin i am fooked for sure...

 

Cop taps me on the shoulder and says "You're right to go mate"....

 

Pardon me officer i think, did i just hear that??? Right to go... thats what he said...

 

LMFAO and woopdeedoo i don't know about variable conditions but the one i took did squat.

I live in Newcastle NSW

 

One night after work i went to a mates place, hit 4 cones, sat around talking for 20 minutes, jumped into the van to drive home ( high as a kite ) Ten minutes later i get pulled over on the Pacific Hwy. Firstly they wanted my license, took me a 5 minutes to find it cos i was so baked. During this time i had headphone in my ears cos the van doesn't have Radio. Cop didn't seam to mind finished the breath test i passed, he then told me i was getting fined for not having P plates on and i was to drive in front of the big white van and wait to be drug tested.

 

The Cop pulled out a plastic swab, i opened my mouth thinking he was gonna put it in, he looks at me funny and says take it from my hand and rub it up and down your tongue 5 times. My mouth was mega dry as i put the swab in my mouth i thought about weather or not i should let it touch my tongue. In the end it touched my tongue maybe 3 times lightly.

 

The cop told me it would be 10 minutes then went back to the van, I sat there thinking im fucked hearts racing making me feel more and more high, im paranoid about the quarter and the pipe that was sitting under the seat, and im in a work van so im para about loosing my job.

 

I dont know what or how it happened but after 10 mins he came back with license and a fine for P plates and said your right to go

 

Now im thinking im neo from the matrix

 

Well acids been making me thinking that for a few years but this was real like proof

I was at a mates place smoking joints and then i decided it was time to hit the road. I rolled a joint for the ride home, as i pulled up to the freeway (I'm in Perth btw) the traffic started to stop. Being so baked and not realising right away i had a few more tokes and there saw the red n blue lights, OH SHIT! I paniced but out the J and threw it under my seat (how stupid!). I was breathalised and that was OK but then he asked me to pull over, i knew what it was about i didn't even have time to air out the car so it would have smelt. I had to get out and sit at a table right in front of the drug bus with a big spot light on me, i had to swab my tongue with the test and then wait 5 minutes. They were the longest 5 minutes of my life! The cop came back and advised me it had showed up possitive for cannabis, he walked me to my car. He asked if i had anymore in the car as there was no point of lying i said yes and he told me to throw it out, "now?" i asked. "No just get in your fucking car and get out of here, make sure you don't hit any other cars, i never want to see your fucking face again!". I got out of there as quickl as i could and smoked the rest of the joint from under my chair on the way home Terrifying experince, but came out unscathed.
