quick question about new setup

Recommended Posts

ok i am having lots of heating probs with my 600 watt setup so i am now asking this.

i am going to go and buy a 200 watt florecent light and a hydroponics set. i just want to grow the plants . would this be cheaper on electricity and would the heat be much less for them and does florecent lights work good??

dunno about florescents for getting any decent bud. but people do use them.

how big is your area? 600watters are alot hotter than 400w..you need good airflo to keep things cool, or you could use a light hood. I seperate the light hood from the grow with a glass sheet.

explain more about your setup. maybe pics if you can.

good luck

Hey Spud ,

Yeah as Wildflower has said , alittle more info on space etc.

You can grow With fluros , But your bud yield will be minimal. A 400w Would be cooler , thn 600w (obviously) and is highly recommended over a fluro. Check out some of the grow diaries that use 400w and see what they can do. B)

Also , What sort of 200w fluro are you thinking of , a Bar one I assume , maybe a few Compact Fluros would be more efficient and practical for you?

O.k. Good Luck.

it is a very small space i am using. about the size of two bedroom doors in width and height. i had a 600 w light with a 2 speed fan but temperatures went to 91 f .i tried a extraction fan but made no difference so i gave it up. but this new setup i am told will work very well.

Hey again Spud ,

So, Its a regular size cupboard is it?? , if so , a closed cupbord with a 600w light and just an oscillating fan will get too hot. It needs to be ventilated properly so the air cycles thru.A fan just blows hot air around.

:toke:

Also , What is this "new Kit" ? Is it from a hydro store or sumthin?. I'd trust the crew here At OSA more than a shop attendant. Be careful not to be duped.

I highly recommend reading some of the Grow Diaries here and taking the advice of the Stoner Crew.

Especially before making an expensive purchase. ;)

O.k. I hope I've been some help. A bit more info about your grow room/space would be helpful and also maybe what you plan to do , like Growing mediums , pot size , watering system? etc. thx.

:)

Bye 4 Now , Budman ... Out.

:)

p.s. I'm thinking of starting a small cupboard grow myself , so I'll be interested to see how you go. :)

hey there mate i would try and stick with the 600w that will be sooooo much better for ya buds than a fluro although a fluro will keep temps down why not try a 25-30cm ordinary toilet fan just wack it in the top of ya wardrobe and fire it of should suck most of ya heat mate

thants what im doing come summer time

cheers

spud, if it makes you feel any better my g-room often runs temps of mid-ninety degrees F during the last 4-6 weeks of flowering and ive still been very happy with the final harvest

it really is a must to have constant flow-thru ventialtion, doesn't matter if its warm air going thru....just get that constant exchange of fresh air.... and keep up the water and im sure you will have a happy harvest B)
