Building a cool tube setup

Next step cut the juice tins in half and cut the aluminium about 60mm longer than the glass tube (in my case glass tube 470mm and alum. 530mm long)

Drill holes through the aluminium angle at each end near the top edge as shown in the pic. This is to suspend the fixture from the main rail by wire or nails or similar.

Fix bracket to inside of juice tin tube allowing for glass tube to sit inside juice tin by 25-30mm. Bolt other end as shown allowing for extra 5-10mmto fit glass tube in so it can’t slide out. Allow them to pivot as shown.

Fit glass into ends and pivot back into position and tighten screws.

Hang assembly and run strips of foil tape around glass to tin join to create airtight seal, or use a heat resistant weather seal to between glass and tin.

I fit the glass after hanging assembly to make it easier.

Cut hole in top of ducting for light cable and tape up cut after feeding cable through

I’m sure someone will improve on my design, but it works great as is.

Look forward to any feedback or suggestions on improvements……..

Good luck, and might I suggest if you know a glazier, use him for the glass tube. I’ve done 7 now and I haven’t busted one yet, but it’s a bit nerve-racking and tedious.
