Do Ionisers work?!

Recommended Posts

Gday,

Ok, a pretty straightforward question, i got a small growbox, and basically wana control smell (not cover it up with another toilet spray kinda smell) ....so, do ionisers work at all?!... in say controlling 1 to 2 plants. any other ideas on ways to eliminate smells, i figure carbon scrubbers or ozone generators are pointless with such a small growbox, any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, anyone actually use an ioniser?... im lookin at the one at dicksmiths ? Here

Any good? any beter one's out there? thanks again. Later. lol

you can make a small carbon filter for a small grow. I believe someone made a post on this a little while back if you search for it you might find it lol

I bought an ioniser a few years ago and don't use it, sure they work to some degree but carbon filters are much better IMO. but the ioniser I got was 2nd hand and pretty old, the new ones might be better. lol

Yeah, they could work effectively for a low-odour strain in small numbers... A carbon filter is most effective though. You can get small ones, like 150mm neck by 300mm long, these are excellent for small rooms with just one light.

Let us know how things go with the ioniser though, it will be interesting to see if it combats smell effectively enough in a one light setup.

Make sure you maintain the unit though, I've heard that they degrade with time and can become next to useless if not checked and maintained.
