hi gazza, i start feeding DM foliar tech at 1/2 dose around the 4th day or when the cubes dry out and need rewatering with Rhizo and budlink.

my 500ml bottle has lasted 6months and will go another. 30ml per litre and it takes me weeks to use that litre mix on clones and early veg plants...

mate i dont bother with any special clone foods. i just make up a mix of BLOOM (flower) nutes at 250 - 400 ppm ph adjusted to 6.0. and the clones have fully rooted in 10 - 14 days, then 1 week to harden off with no humidity dome. and there ready to go into the veg room

i use BLOOM nutes (not veg) for cloning because the higher pk is relevant for strong root development.

i used to clone in the little cubes and i often had stem rot from overwatering. i now clone in a slab. yes a slab! i can fit 24 cones into half a grodan slab which is placed into a standard crop box with a humidity dome on top. the crop box is placed on top of a reservoir which holds the weak nutes with a water heater set to 25 degrees. they get fed by a pump 1 min every 4hrs to keep them moist, and the excess flows through the slab and the perforated bottom of the crop box back into the reservoir. and when there fully rooted i cut the slab into pieces and put them into the full size slabs. in 2 weeks there is a bed of roots coming out of the bottom of the slab into the reservoir.

i found the two keys to cloning success are 24hrs of light. and also keep the temps up. i clone in my veg room. which has the lights on 24hrs a day all the time. its full of MH 1000's. the clone box site off the side of the main veg plants. i dont bother with fluros etc. they love the extra hight coming from the 1000's. the temps range from 25 to 30 degrees depending on the time of year.

overwatering can be a problem, but since i changed to cloning in a slab its never been an issue. i have a pump feeding them 1 min every 4hrs, but you get such good drainage from the slab that u never overwater. for the last year ive had a only 1 or 2 die from the 24 i cut every 6 weeks. and the ones that die were usually the ones that werent tight in the hole (i find that if u make the whole too big and they dont fit tightly they wont grab as well).

finally i take the clones all over the best veg plants in the veg room. most times i take the main stem off which is THICK and it grabs fine. and helps rest of plant bush out from the laterals. any more stock i take from around the lower laterals. the thickness of the stem hasnt been a problem. sometimes the clone is as thick as your finger, other times as thin as 3mm. no difference ive found.

i make the final cut directly below the last node at 45 degrees and cut the leaf off that node then i lightly scrape the outside of the stem. dip that whole portion into the rooting i gel (i use progel - but there probably all the same!)

if ur interested ill take some pics of my clone setup.

good luck
