Police seize $1.3 million of cannabis

CANNABIS seized from an Adelaide northern suburbs property yesterday had the potential to equate to more than 67,000 street deals.

Operation Avatar police officers seized the packaged drugs valued at more than $1.3 million from a Cheltenham home. It is believe the home is linked to an outlaw motorcycle gang.

More than 32kg of cannabis was discovered at the Colston St home about 11am (ACST) and police said they were "pleased" to find the drugs before they were sold.

A 41-year-old Cheltenham man was arrested and charged with the possession of cannabis for sale, and for possession of fireworks.

Detective Inspector Graham Goodwin of the Avatar police anti-bikie section said the large quantity of drugs was dangerous to the community.

"It's always threatening when a large amount of drugs like this is on the streets and what we are taking out from the community is the potential of 67,000 drug deals," Det-Insp Goodwin said.

"It's pleasing to see a large quantity of a drug removed from the community." Fireworks and two firearms were also found.

Meanwhile, Holden Hill police found more than $100,000 worth of stolen property at a house and unit in Kilburn.

A large amount of a substance police believe is methylamphetamine was also seized. Jewellery, electrical and musical equipment, clothing, tools and ammunition was seized at the two properties.

Three Kilburn men, aged 33, 45 and 44, were charged with property and serious drug offences and remanded in custody.
