Hermaphrodite with 3 weeks to go

hi

i just noticed my plants are putting out male flowers. the flowers appear mainly at the very tip of the colas, and and are only really in the first stages of forming.

 

what should i do? the plants have been flowering for 40 days and only have 3 or so weeks to go. should i use budwise and spray them, how long does this last in the plants? i think there are too many flowers for me to successfully pick them all.

 

how long do seeds take to form? the buds look very nice it would be a shame to lose them to seed.

i would recon the best idea would be to get off as many as ya can cause they will form seeds

also get any females out of the way of them im sure you probably knwo that already

yes but what to do? 17 days left in flower, how formed would the seeds be at the end of 17 days? as far as i can tell none of the flowers have even opened yet so i may have even bought a few more days in time.

 

would you use budwise still or let them run their course and just pick as many flowers off as i can see?

hey majik,

you can pick them off with tweezers... but how many flowers are we talking.. is it riddled or just a few...?

have you had this problem before? Are they grown from seed? Just a few Q's to help understand why theyve hermied...

 

but really if theres only a few weeks to go... then the heads should be pretty decent... if your really worried you could just chop the crop now.. it wont make a real lot of difference to potency and yeild... obvoiusly you wont get as much as you would if they were to mature.. but atleast it wont go to waist... depends on how many flowers youre getting.

 

If theres just a few, then pick them of with tweezers.. that wont damage the heads at all.. seeds take about 4-6 weeks to mature.. so they wont be ready by the time the heads are ready..

i have been picking them off with tweezers but there are 3 plants and quite alot of heads - will take me ages and i probably will not get them all. you know what male flowers are like, the more you pick off the more it seems will form.

 

these plants were grow from cuttings and the original mother plants have also gone hermaphrodite as far as i know.

 

i am going to just pick the flowers with tweezers and not bother with budwise, as i think that cause they turned hermaphrodite relatively late in the flower cycle i shouldn't loose too much to seed. the strain is a pretty strong smoke genetically, but i wont be growing it again.

imo you should concentrate your efforts on removing those male flowers, sure it'll be a time consuming task, but its better than getting a partially seeded crop of premature seeds

 

but if you cant be fucked putting that effort into the plants, keep them growing untill you notice the first pod open and then rip all the plants out
