Cannabis Painted on High Street House Must Go

LITCHFIELD, Conn. -- A man who spray-painted large cannabis leaves on his house has agreed to remove the bright green paintings as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Christopher Seekins, of Winsted, was arrested in October when police discovered about 100 marijuana plants in his house. He said they were hemp and part of a research project.

After his arrest, Seekins painted images of the green leaf on his Victorian-style house, each accompanied by the word "hemp." Town officials say they received several complaints because Seekins' home _ on High Street _ is visible from Winsted's main thoroughfare.

Seekins has said the large leaves were painted in support of legalization of marijuana. He also believes in the usefulness of hemp, a biological relative of marijuana that is used in products from soap and cosmetics to rope and luggage.

Seekins, 26, pleaded guilty Thursday in Litchfield Superior Court to a charge of growing marijuana and Supervisory State's Attorney Andrew M. Wittstein agreed to three years probation. He was also barred from painting the leaves on his house again.

The state agreed to drop other charges, such as possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Seekins will have to perform 300 hours of community service and refrain from possessing or using illegal drugs.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 30.

If that were me Id be telling them to piss off... but thats just me..:applause:

I cant see anything wrong with what hes painted on the side of the house... does this mean if enough people complain I can get the council to tell my nieghbour to paint over his blue house??? I think this comes under harassment... its his house and I cant see why he cant paint what ever he likes on the side...as long as theres nothing obscene...

would he have the same harassment if they were roses painted instead?

Does this mean everything that has a hemp leaf on it is banned from public display??? do we live in a communist world where individual beliefs are discouraged?

so much for democracy and living in a so called free enviroment....

ps. in the 60's the CIA were testing Marijuana, along with many other drugs, as a mind control substance for interragation.....

but what a crock of shit, he gets done for growing around 100 plants and because of a few paintings, he gets off on the condition he repaints the house, doesnt paint mull leaves again on his house + he got 300 hours community service  i would have told them to get fucked, put me in prison and then the day i got out, i would buy a few cans of paint :toke:
