Recommended Posts

POLICE have arrested 22 people after a major drug operation was conducted in Pearcedale and other south-eastern suburbs.

Frankston Regional Response Unit (RRU) executed seven drug warrants in Seaford, Frankston, Pearcedale and Langwarrin on Sunday night.

Police seized a large quantity of cash, firearms and stolen property and drugs.

Sergeant Bernie Magee of Frankston RRU said in excess of $10,000 has been seized, as well as a substantial amount of amphetamines and some marijuana.

“It’s been a significant operation undertaken by Frankston RRU with resounding success,” said Sgt Magee.

The operation had been ongoing since January and involved members of the Special Operations Group, Dog Squad and other local criminal investigation units and regional response groups.

The offenders, from Langwarrin, Seaford, Frankston, Carrum Downs, and Pearcedale, are aged from their late teens to mid-30s. Four women and 18 men were arrested.

Eleven of those arrested were remanded in custody and were due to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

They faced charges including conspiring to traffic cannabis and amphetamines in a commercial quantity, trafficking cannabis and amphetamines in a commercial quantity, possessing handguns, and various offences relating to stolen property.

Frankston police were confident that Operation Ovine had delivered a major blow to amphetamine supplies in the area.
