Watering and Nute times for Coco

Recommended Posts

I've just transplanted my plants into 10 litre pots. I'm using Canna COGr A+B Nutes specially designed for growing in Coco. It says on the back of the bottle to reach an EC of 1.5, to mix 4ml/litre of tap water. But it didn't say how often I should use it. Do I use this stuff with every water, or just once a week?.

Also, how often do I water now?. I watered about 12 hours ago and the Coco on the surface is still damp. How much water do I give them with each watering?

to get 1.5 ec mix at about 2ml per litre. I get 2,6 to 2.8 from the 4 ml

coco needs to be ferted daily when plants get of good size, a drip would make feeding very easy and only a weekly upto monthy res change.

A digi timer controls the pumps on and off settings for 3 to 6 feeds daily. I hand water weaker nutes 1,8ec on 10 day old cuts daily until plant is 20 to 30 cm then add the drip and raise to near full strength.

Flush coco with plain water once a week and dont mix too many additives and youll be sweet. if your looking for faster root growth use rizotonic and zym.

I use the canna coco nute, cogR should be very simular pretty sure the cogr is disigned for cogr board growing same coco just different sized coco particals.

Hi NH, first things first although it makes little difference. What stage COGr product Veg or flores ?

I've just transplanted my plants into 10 litre pots. I'm using Canna COGr A+B Nutes specially designed for growing in Coco.

COGr = Coco Slabs (bricks) Comes in 2 part (A & :harhar: and 2 stage (Veg & Flores)

They are top nutes. Added silica and also humic acids.

It says on the back of the bottle to reach an EC of 1.5, to mix 4ml/litre of tap water. But it didn't say how often I should use it.

The graph and doseage given on the bottle is correct. Remember if you don't make a full nute mix up then you don't achieve the PH. This becomes more important when applying to young plants and seedlings. In a case case you would want to apply a lower EC (less nutes - ie.1/3 or 1/2 streanth) and would result in a higher PH.

Hence, a PH meter while not all that necessacary is a good tool that I recommend to anyone.

I am asuming that your plants are not young and now in 10 litre pots. Coco is inert medium which is sterile. There is no nutes at all apart from necessary microorganisms. You do you do need to water and feed at all times.

With Coco the most common mistake is overwatering. Coco is pretty light so I am hoping you can simply use the manual weight test by picking up the pots and judging the wiight.

Heavy (no need to water) & light (water/feed)

I'd also recommend a layer of hydrotron or similar product to assist with drainage.

Go by what your plants tell you. I generally water/feed 2nd - 3rd day. My EC can vary depending on the plant stage/age. I also let them dry right out if needed as enviroment changes over seasons ect.

You should get the COGr - Flores for 12/12 = you wont regret it. I am tryimg for the first time the COGr - Veg atm. Oh I also grow in Coco Chior and not slabs............. nutes are made for the job.

Goodluck with your watering & don't over do it. :bleh:

Give us a pic if you can NH.

:applause:

Just a quick reply, on my way out the door for work.

I gave them all about a litre of nutrients when I finished transplanting on Tuesday afternoon. It's now Friday and the Coco is still damp (just) on top. I'm abit concerned about root rot. Is it okay to have the roots damp for that long?. The plants range from 8" to a foot tall, so they're prob not using much water atm. I'm think Ill just feed/water them once a week at this stage?.

Also, I swear to god, in the last 2 days they've grown 2". Mainly the shorter plants. The new growth that was just showing a week ago has really taken off in the last days. The plants just look a shit load happier. I was worried about transplant stress.

Nitram, I'm using cogr vega atm. I will switch to flores when flowering. The medium in the pots are 1" layer of expanded clay balls to assist drainage and a 80/20 mix of Coco/Perlite. I'm thinking I should have gone with a 70/30 mix perhaps?.

I'll take some Happy Snaps of the family tonight when camera is charged.
