Home made evap cooler

Recommended Posts

Hi peoples today is the day i finnaly clean my shed out too much junk Building up. Before i throw this stuff away i thought id show the cooler i used for first grows its easy to make and pumps out a steady 23c constantly.

the pics are good enough to show how she works. Is filled with 30lt of water maby ice too if its at the peak of summer, the pump is missing but use your imagination. the fan bolts straight to tub and a pot funnels down to a standard 250 mm duct. It a very good unit and easily made for less than $80 the better the fan the better it works.

Hi guys disregard last post storage problem solved.

Evap cooler is made with two evap cooler pannels 30cm x 50 x7cm thick can be bought new or salvaged out of an old house cooler. The fan is set to suck air from tub which forces air through cooling panels.

In the tub we have a pump and fan on same timer set when lights come on. The Pump takes water from the res and dripps ontop of pannels .

Panels are designed to flow water only one way if up side down water drips from sides of pannel, water drips back into res and is recycled.

For best results Keep it topped up as the water level drops temp rises, at the end of tub where the fan is placed its important to cut hole as close to the top as posiable alowing more water a hole the same shape as mine allows max water level which was 30lt.

The box can be made with only one Pannel for one light. and is a silent cooling method that works well in my climate.

Grows in humid climates like Quensland willnot fet the best from this unit, its better suited to dry summers has saved a few grow i some times used it ontop of a A/C to get my temps down.

Good luck and Keep this in mind next summer when temps are crasy can be built in a day.

Hi all.

Had been putting the great cleaning day off for too long now.

The cooler is good to Keep for emergencies in summer and great for my bedroom it works alot better than a store bought cooler and can modded with an inline fan.

I cooled a veg room and 2x600wts in flower room with this beauty

Treestump

Save the pics mate never know when you may need them or if somebody needs a good idea.

A mate made this for me as he works in a a/c instalation factory its mathamaticly designed as the Panels can only flow a certin amout if a bigger fan is used. Have seen bigger models to with two fans 4 pannels.

2 pannel per fan seems to be fine. I have what hydro shops call a turbo bath fan it has replacable bearing over the ceramic bushing making for quiet opperation on its side.

Enjoy this toy peoples any questions feel free.
