tips of leaves pointing downwards

Recommended Posts

I went to a hydro shop to buy some supplys and i mentioned my problem to the old fella there. I've been told he's quite a bright man and knows his stuff. He mentioned to me that they are underwatered. I thought from then on that he has no clue. I repotted the two today into larger pots with hydro gravel stuff on the bottom and mixed with the coco to fill in the sides. I couldn't believe it when i lifted it out from the pot it was bone dry and light as a feather. It had been watered this morning. Didnt' have a drop of moisture in the whole pot yet the leaves weren't wilting right down like they normally would, only the tips of them. Very strange. So i returned the watering cycle back to 2mins twice a day instead of once a day which i had altered it to before thinking it was over watered. I switched to Advanced Nutrients last night and already the plants looking like popeye after eating his spinache. This will be a great harvest. Lucky i'm patient

Tracking down the exact problem with ya plants is something that takes experience. But if I could just mention one thing about this "leaves are pointing down"----"leaves are more horizontal now than before, but ends are pointing down" etc etc etc..

I've been an avid gardener for all my life. I've grown dope since I was a kid, but more than anything I grew vegetables for a family of 7 when we lived emotely as "hippy's" in the olden days.

My first serious garden was a larger crop of tomatoes in grade 9. The next crop was a stack of pot.

One thing I can tell you, PPM meters are invaluable, TDS meteres also, and many other modern developments of technology.

But basically, before we had any of these things, we understood a happy healthy plat's leaves grew slightly upwards, and we understod that if the leaves began to droop we had an unhappy plant.

It's the plant's whay of smiling I guess. This isn't going to solve your problem specifically, but it's just that I've found in the marijauana growing world, there are many people who have grown just one type of plant in all their life; grass. Thata's fine, but it makes them relient upon the advice of others, meters, and frequently, simply no idea.

try to remember your plants are iving entitiies, and they do show "happynes" amd "sadness" in a very basic way. knowing this and keeping a close eye on your plants daily, you'll pick up on when the plant started to feel "sad" quicker, and hence be able to remember just what it was you did yesterday that might be makeing it feel "off colour"

Sorry I can't be of more help. Best of luck though.

rob.

PS. If you're not already, try starting a veggie patch, and get interested plant life in general. of course if you do this, always remeber to shower and change clothes between any serious outside garden work, and entering the grow room.

Vermin follow you everywhere, and it's easy to infect your iside garden with things the outside garden is copeing well with.

PPS. Often buying expensive specific chemicals will fix the trouble, and sometimes we need to buy them. But if you feed, and water the plants regularly, and get a "feel" for keeping them happy, you'll find a box full of chemicals that never did savethose plants. Believe me, there's a 50 dollar bottle of crap to solve everything from drooping leaves to plant adhd.

I knewa bloke (ozstoner knows who I mean), who had a full sclae professional hydroponic garden, growing many pounds per month to supply the med user clubs in Canada before the Canadian gov. did a back=flip.

He understood plant life, and how to keep them healthy, and in all the years he had that business, he never bought a single chemical to fix a problem, or increase his yields, yet his success was at least equal to anyone I knew. He also worked on the principle a "happy" healthy plat's leaves point up, and a plant whch has copped a wrong treatment will show the opposite. The change wll occur overnight usually, so if ya plants have started to droop, what is wrong, probably took place just yesterday.

cheers

rob

Thanx mate. I know a little about plants but certainly far from being an expert or wise gardener. Learning a lot as i go. This is only my second MJ crop. I use to be nuts about organic gardening and collect 'Grass Roots' organic gardening mag. Although i love hydro's, i certainly wouldn't eat anything grow that way as it normally scores a distant second behind organics in taste and health. The leaves are acually more upwards than horizontal now, but the tips are still down. I'll giv it a few days n see what happens. They certainly like the change to Advanced Nutrients that i've given them. Had almost an instant effect on them.

Gardening and the plant n mineral kingdom itself i find facinating but am too lazy to make a vege patch. Even if i could motivate myself, i have 3 bulged disks in my back and i'd be fuct. I just buy it from fruit n veg shop. But i love the exact science of hydropinics and aiming for perfection. I find it facinating. I've been hell impressed with this nutrient calender by advanced nutrients http://www.advancednutrients.com/nutcalc3public/

It can be altered to suit ur growth period and the amount of water in ur tank. I love that sort of attention to detail. Most ppl couldn't be fuct. The old bloke at the hydro shop told me thats the main reason ppl giv him who won't use Advanced for not using their products. Each their own i guess
