newbie: jb 400w mh ballast / HPS 400w son-t

Helllos everyone, this is my first setup.. and i was looking to buy a 400w HPS.

so when i went to my localstore i grabd a 400w package.

it came with HPS400w son-t, jb 400w mh ballast and a reflector.

but.. its not working.. i think the dude accidently gave me the wrong ballast.. as it said for MH.. or is it alright and im suppose to wait for it to warmup or somthing..

The MH ballest wont fire up the HPS lightglobe u will have to take the ballest back and get a HPS ballest, there are retro fit globes u can get these days thay will run in the diffrent ballest, like u can get a MH glabe that will run in a HPS ballest but u pay a bit more for them...

man that avatar is hypnotic ha ha ha i found myself staring at it for like 10min then read you post and then stared for another 10 yeah mate go get it changed over and then tell us what the rest of ya set up is gonna be and what ya gonna grow

yeah as others said take it back this has happen to me when i first started out growing indoors i was sold a lowbay HPS with a MH lamp i donno what these people are doing working with electricals its not a easy mistake when the box is clearly printed but thats just my opinion good thing u have a keen eye and know what ur looking for

thanks for the replys.. n yea i just went to swap it ova for a JB special hps ballast.. first time iv seen these lights in action.. . so excited i was stare'in at the globe in action..

 

well..im not sure if my setup is affective. there about 2-3 inchs(hav 3) and 1 has yellow dots on it.. and there about 30cms-40cms away from the 400w.. and its surrounded by like a tarp thingy..(in shed)

im not sure if its safe. but everytime i walk out or in of the cubicle.. it gives me static..

 

do u think the tarp thingo needs to b removed?

Not sure about the tarp mate but i wouldent go looking strait at the globe wile it is running as it will hert your eyes...
