Drug squad targets large plots

Recommended Posts

MARIJUANA plants with a potential street value of $1.463 million were seized by police during a four-day operation on the state's Mid North Coast last week.

Officers spent four days removing plants as high as six metres growing on Crown and private land at Kendall, Comboyne, Lower creek, Bowraville, Missbotti, Taylors Arm and Newee Creek.

During the operation named Strike Force Lush officers from the Drug Squad and Mid North Coast Local Area Command, with assistance of Polair and the Dog Unit, seized 718 cannabis plants.

The plants seized in the Kendall and Comboyne areas were found growing in the Kerewong State Forest.

The cannabis was destroyed at bonfires at Warwill Creek on Thursday (March 9) and at the saw mill in Rifle Range Road Wingham on Friday (March 10).

The large areas of state forest in the area made it difficult for police to locate the cannabis plants growing in the region.

Since November last year the Drug Squad has worked with local area commands to target five areas across the state.

"The success of these operations is due to the diligence of local police who work to obtain credible information on the cultivation of cannabis," Drug Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent David Laidlaw said.

"We can't do this work on our own and rely on help from the public. If you have information about the cultivation of any prohibited drugs contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."

dont get me wrong, im pissed they took those massive trees, but how in the fuck could you miss 700 odd 6m tall plants? not only would they stink the entire place out, the plants would be as tall as most of the other trees in the area :applause:

would have been a sight to die for seeing that crop though :peace:
