clone lighting

I got given a coupl;e of lights the other day..........

 

a 70w hps and a 200w hps.

 

Are either any good for use in cloning ?

 

Cause I need a cloning light and they were free .

u can clone under any light. i use 600 watters. but there conversion globes. ive used 400w sont's before no problem. keep the stronger lights high enough

using that kinda lighting isnt the best and imo a complete waste of electricity for lighting a few clones

 

all i use is 2x 18w cool white fluros and i can easily do 50 cuttings under that + havea few smaller plants off to the side for early vege

 

dont get me wrong, those lights will work, but imo you'd be far better off using fluros

mmmm depending on how many clones you wish to do... if you were to set up a wardrobe for clones and use the 70 wattHPS.. that would most probably be fine.......

 

but really, like the chronic says...its a little expensive to run..just for a few cuttings.

 

head to the hardware store and get your self a twin battten flouro, the smaller one is fine...coolwhite tubes are great...and I ve used them plenty of times, and if cash is tight will serve the purpose well.

how ever if or when you can afford, get grolux flouro tubes... they are a little better... they show a little more blue, and uv.... I think..... the tubes are a little on the purply side........
