Family First want cannabis recriminalised

Family First has called for cannabis use in South Australia to be recriminalised.

 

SA decriminalised the use of cannabis in 1987, with possession of up to 100 grams attracting a maximum $150 on-the-spot fine but no conviction.

 

Family First SA leader Andrew Evans said statistics on cannabis use showed serious health consequences, including higher rates of schizophrenia, depression and other psychotic disorders.

 

Mr Evans called for cannabis possession to be made a criminal offence, with fines of $1,000 for a first offence and $2,000 for subsequent offences.

 

A state election will be held on March 18.

considering almost half the SA population smoke MJ and out of the other half about 40% of them would know some one who smokes pot, I would be very surprised it these wankers got any where.....

Their drug policy is four sentences long. The second two read:

Family First rejects harm minimisation as the primary strategy for combating substance abuse. The Party favours prevention, rehabilitation and avoidance as more acceptable primary strategies.

This means they favour prohibition and don't really care about minimizing harm. That's a bodgy political policy even by prohibitionist standards. It's like a school assignment that deserves an F. Their only reason for prohibition is that drugs have a negative health consequence.

It does not state how prohibition helps the problems they allege are from cannabis use.

 

This party is about imposing their views on others regardless of the effects on families. For the record, Family First also oppose: equal rights for same-sex partners, stem-cell research, abortion and euthanasia. They always make particular mention of marijuana in their drug-war policy and openly state it is their number-one target.

Family First are quite powerful, they have followers who blindly back them with votes and they only focus those votes on certain issues. They have an agenda and ignorant masses to give them the power to achieve it.

 

Very dangerous organisation when you think about it.

Kids dont drink itl kill ya , dont smoke tobbacco itl give ya cancer and avoid pharmecuticals they do more harm than good , and if you want to do something for the planet kiddies , help find away for these bozos that rule over come there indifferences towards cannabis , so that we burn cleaner fuel , use less fertilizers chop down less old growth trees and feed the poor and starving in the world not to mention heal the sick the suffering and the dyeing .
