(rabbits gettin hard to find thanks c.s.i.r.o. grrrrr)

ive seen awesome plants growing in all types of soil i think the main thing is the soil needs to be well drained at least ( no swamps!)

hey the chineses farmers piss in their water for xtra nutrients ( i tried it once worked fine :D- piss around your bush crops and the roos, possums etc wont know w.t.f you are and stay 10 k's away :P :P )

Yeah, i've noticed little black bugs crawlin and flyin round the cupboard i'm growin in two, i sprayed (fairly liberly, i can't spell tonight to save myself) with pyrethrum but it doesn't seem to have helped.  I've also got a couple of cactus in there, so i'm not sure if that brought em in, but so far i've been unsuccessful in gettin rid of em :-(

Havin said that, i haven't noticed any damage to the plants, as yet, so lets hope the trend continues.

if your getting little black crawly things at the base of your plant, and they are flyin to. when they land they dig down into the soil and lay eggs they grow into a root feeding lava(small worm) and then at an adult stage they grow wings fly and feed on your leaves.,sounds bad easy fix.get some yellow sticky mats and some (guardian from your hydge shop to kill the lava. hope that helps (i had the same problem tried everything this 2step plan worked lol

I use heapsa shit in my soil, yeah I grow both ways, soil is definately a better smoke, and whoever said your buds will taste like shit if you feed them shit, you are full of shit, Its the same idea as putting fucking coke in your resevoir. Do you think you have mango and mulberry tasting buds???

Anyhoo, add anything and experiment, I use a different mix all the time, And usually make a mix I water with plain water, guano is a great thing.

I use 60/40 soil/perlite mix, and then I add heapsa crap, I do compost so alot of that goes into it but sometimes not, Blood & Bone is great, worm castings are great, (get a farm), uhhhm, green sand from a nursery, Diatomaceous earth, fish meal (powdered not liquid).

I also foliar feed with alfalfa meal, liquid guano, and fish emulsion, during veg, early flowering.

I would like to use organic nutes in a organic hydro system, but I dunno where to get organic nutes from, I've heard of these foxfarm and pureblend pro nutes but never seen them, does anyone know if they are imported into Oz?

hey white cluster,... your soil sounds good, like a decent vegie patch, maybe some chooks?.. ever heard of earthjuice?.. it was certified as an organic hydro nute in the u.s. years ago. it was used on food crops(lettuce, etc), a mate got some strawberry blonde seeds from o.s. and grew 6(from 10 marc emery, but this was before we could get right into this "internut thang"). got 4 decent females, segregated and grew 2 on canna, 2 on earth juice, canna does grow em quicker, but the tastes better off the earth juice. you could compromise, hydro nutes(canna, etc) in cocoa... full synthetic nutes in an organic media... :D go for it!!! onya, jaikai

I gotta agree about the fish emulsion. I am using it and it rocks!! My last harvest tasted like heaven, no shit smoke here. Organic nutes in organic soil with organic mulch, absolutely lovely. I am not going back to using chems. again yuk!! There is so much organic fertilizer about nowdays, hydro shops just seem to be getting more and more in, even bloom boosters.

As for the rabbit trick, i have a mate who throws a smelly old carp(from the tlocal river-as there are fuckin millions of em around-bastard pests)in a hole before he plants his outdoor plants. He swears by his method.

White cluster i am in SA and have not seen the SA Organics as yet(or have been too stoned to see em), i will take a look about.

im new at growing marijuana i was wondering wot kind of soil i should use.right now im useing pottering soil is that ok soil or do i need something diffrent than that.

The Green Gardener organic soil is really nice - great water-holding capacity and aeration and has the consistency of compost - good mix straight from a bag and its pretty cheap for a soil that works. It comes in a big green bag and I think BigW sells it.

I dont have a favourite mix but I always like to add peat [bigWs brand or Coco - dont get anything else as Ive had bad experience with some others (Brunnings) - holding no water is not a property of peat but some dont hold water] and compost to any soil [use potting soil just to save some money IMO]. Peat will provide good water-holding capacity and compost will provide trace nutrients - theyre great without anything else too and all organic so your buds will taste great.

Id probably mix all of the above soils if I had them all - youll find most gardeners will just mix up what they have then fix up the soil after growing some plants in it. Get a soil PH tester or take some of your mix into a nursery to see if you need to add lime. You can search the net for 'soil conditioning' if you use non-prepared soils from the garden - conditioning soil is popular if you dont want to buy soil but youll get crap results unless you start with excellent soil.

Blood and bone or dynamic lifter is good to use as fertilizer and if you want to accelerate the growth and flowering then boost the Nitrogen and Potassium levels with Urea and Potash [Manutec makes good salts] but be careful of burning the plants of salinating the soil with excess nutrients of course [read the packet]. Seasol is also good - just fertilize it when growth slows down.

If you just want some filthy buds without much effort then go for a good potting soil like the first one I mentioned and grab some Seasol or a brand of fish emultion then water it when the top inch is dry and feed it when growth slows [every 2 weeks at most IMO]. I buy everything from BigW or Bunnings Warehouse - expect to pay about $1/L for good soil.

You should have your plants in by now or at plantlet stage - September/August is the time to plant here depending on soil warmth but you can still grow some buds still so dont worry too much. lol

Dont forget to show us your buds and what you done to achieve them. :P

Edit: if you cant see The Green Gardener brand then go for Yates/Hortico as they are usually just as good but more expensive because they always make good stuff - guaranteed to grow etc.
