DWC - Light Proofing & Cooling

Recommended Posts

My set up................

80L plastic container............

I painted the outside of the container black , then wrapped it twice in black gaffer tape.

the lid, I taped lino to it with my cut outs for the pots.

I found it was still getting a bit warm , so grabbed some 20 mm ply wood and cut it into squares and painted them white. I sit them ontop of the lid around the pots.

I also bought a axial exhaust fan ( 90L per minute ? , cant remember )

for $30 on ebay.........

no more heat problems

I have 2 x areration pumps bubling away in the container.

( I think the biggest failing in problem DWC set ups is not enough bubles,

go over board)

and check PH often,

I found on my first grow that once I had my PH and temp right,

alge was not a problem.

I think the lino idea is good, i'm going to do that with my nute tank when I get more bubblers going.

I have a 5 or 6" round airstone in my bubbler (20L bucket) at the moment and its connected to a 9500cc pump... do you think that is enough air?

I was also thinking about putting concrete pavers standing vertically against the nute tank on each side of it and it sits on a concrete floor, that should really keep the temps down I think.

What is everyone elses opinion on that?
