Ganja-Scented Greenbacks?

N O R T H A M P T O N, Mass. — Why do criminals launder their money? So it doesn't smell like marijuana, apparently.

When Nikita Santor was arrested on drug charges, her parents were good enough to try to bail her out. The only problem, police said, was that they brought the $50,000 in rolled up wads of $20 bills that smelled strongly of drugs. Police confiscated the money and Santor remains in jail.

Santor was first arrested on Dec. 18, when she and a companion, Michael Lenahan, were pulled over in their 1997 purple Dodge Intrepid for following another vehicle too closely, police said.

State Trooper Michael McCammon "detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle," police said. Inside, he found a pound of pot and $12,000 in cash, police said.

When they searched the couple's home, authorities allegedly found an additional 62 pounds of marijuana, 10 pounds of hashish, $2,700 in cash and an illegal .38-caliber handgun.

Santor's parents, Arlene and Martin, dutifully showed up with the cash to bail out their daughter on Dec. 30. A police dog confirmed officers' initial suspicions that the money reeked of reefer, authorities said.

Arlene and Martin Santor said that friends of their daughter had given them the money, police said.

yeah... there was similar story in the Shortnews.com, but it was the banker who told the cops lol

one of the best way to "clean" you money is at the casinos, just cash into chips, and come back later and simply ask for a cheque and bank the cheque, and all you have to say that you won at the casino.... but the problem the cops could check out the videotapes at the casinos to see if you "really" won the money, or the other way is get a mate/partner give your mate half of your cash and bet on the roulettes, get you mate to put some cash on the black and you on the red where's there's 50/50 odds, but the problem what happens if the white ball lands on "0" not black or red..... lol best give your mate the cash before you enter the casino and try not to be together...

or the other way is put your cash into these lawyer funds and get a check from the lawyers, and lawyers often know the way around when police ask questions, but the risk is if the law office goes broke or they ran off with your cash.

I know few others, as I was told all this stuff by a ex- federal policeman whose daughter is a great mate of mine for many years lol

yep,..I have posted that a while ago too, the article got my attention as it was kind of a silly thing to do, walking in with all that money in cash and smellin' and all.

If you just go with it to your lawyer they can do this all by bank within a couple of hours and there's no questions asked. lol

depending which casino, its not so easy to launder money there. Usually there is a minimum of $5000 if you want a cheque, and even then they ask you where you were playing and they go back to the floor manager/pit boss and check if you really won that much. They keep a track of anyone who is betting more than a few hundred dollars.

however you don't need a cheque to get clean money at the casino. You can just buy chips then cash them in straight away without betting. Do it too often with large amounts though and someone will notice.

g'day; try the automatic money laundary....poker machine...exchange cash for coin, deposit coin, play coin, cash coin for clean cheque;) (use local pub;) )

or.... put wager on horse or grey dog, cancel wager before race starts, they will pay in cheque which is regarded as winnings.

dont do often as suspicion will bust your arse.
