Mogul Socket

Ive got a 600w ballast and globe at my old ladies in sydney.. and the only problem is now that ive used all my cash to get into a place and i might just have enough to bring the ballast over. My problem is: I might have to veg with 48w fluoros for the first two weeks of my three/four week veg period, and i reckon this is going to really damage my final yield.. so I was thinking, if i get the ballast and globe sent over, can I just buy a mogul socket and wire up my own concoction and just hang the light vertically with some dodgy shaped bit of scrap metal.. just for two weeks until i get another pay..

 

So to my question... What are these mogul sockets worth, where do i find them in Perth.. and ill need the three pin plug that plugs into the ballast too wont i, whats that worth, and whats it called?

Just rang Greenlite hydroponics, and they said it costs $33.53 for a vertical mounting socket and plug thingy.. I might try some electric wholesalers or something like that... I just want the two plugs, I can do the wiring no problems. Im looking at paying like $20 or something, .. I can get a full shade second hand for $50 so 33 is a bit much.

 

Edit: Duh.. I just forgot Im moving into share accommodation and wont need such big lighting. But just in case answers are good, ill need it in a few weeks

The ballast changes the power supply, you can't use the mains for HPS without it.

Pickle, i think Nath is saying he can only ship the control box and globe he needs the lamp holder and is thinking of making one

Nath, dont mess around with electricity it'll bite back and when u goto ur hydro shop ask for a second hand chinamans hat lamp holder these should be dirt cheap as they are the cheapest lamp holders made or u should be able to get an aftermarket new lamp holder for $25 thats here in sydney or buy one from the for sale section here :thumbsup

Pssst,...You never heard this from me :whistling but as a temporary measure, you can file down the earth pin of a standard three pin plug to fit into the round earth hole of your ballast

Hah.. its ok Ill save and get a chinahat reflector. Its not the best efficient reflector for HPS lighting apparently, but Ill probably end up with a couple lights in a large area so its better for then.
