Corby's 20-year jail term reinstated

Schapelle Corby's lawyer has confirmed her 20-year sentence for drug smuggling has been reinstated.

 

Bali lawyer Erwin Siregar said he had been told verbally about the Indonesian Supreme Court's decision to reinstate the sentence.

 

"I have heard from a trusted source that it is indeed true," he told AAP.

 

 

"The sentence has been raised from 15 to 20 years.

 

"I heard the (Indonesian Supreme Court) document is on the way from Jakarta to Denpasar now."

 

Prosecutor Ni Wayan Sinaryati said she had only heard the news from the media.

 

"If you find out anything about it, please let me know," she said, when contacted by AAP.

 

A spokesman for the Denpasar District Court, I Wayan Yasa Adadhi, said authorities in Bali had not received any official word about the supreme court's decision.

 

Supreme court officials in Jakarta declined to comment.

 

Separately, Corby's Jakarta defence lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea sent a text message to AAP saying that he might "resign this case".

No shit man, 20 years in an Indonesian prison would suck ass... Imagine being her going there if she wasnt guilty, Id probably start losing the plot.

My partner just tells me on the news tonight, that Schapelle's brother was locked up this evening in Australia for cannabis posession, and was with Schapelle in Bali when she got caught.

 

Im not sure how true this is, as I havent been able to find info on it anywhere yet.

i wish i had alot of money, I would pay someone to bust her out and then hide her.

 

I know she was innocent but thats beside the point, firstly our gov should grow some balls and demand she comes home.

 

secondly she got 20 years and the bomber walked away? thats fucked.

thirdly whats her brothers behaviour got to do with her? nothing.

If you know she was innocent how can you be helpless? You should go see her lawyers and give them the evidence that she is innocent!!!

 

Which bomber has walked away? So far no bombers caught in Indonesia have walked from jail, the only person that has walked so far - to my knowledge - has been a cult leader suspected of being the mastermind behind some of the bombings.

 

Her brother has heaps to do with this as Corby's lawyers insisted during her trial that both she and members of her family have never had anything to do with drugs.
