$3m seized in drug raids

VICTORIAN detectives have arrested six men and seized drugs, laboratory equipment, $3 million in assets and a machine gun in raids in Melbourne's north and Ballarat.

 

Major drug investigation division detectives yesterday swooped on properties at Craigieburn, St Albans and Ballarat as part of a four-month operation.

 

They say they seized about 30,000 ecstasy tablets, five kilograms of amphetamines, a quantity of cannabis and $3 million in assets, the proceeds of a sophisticated drug manufacturing and trafficking ring.

 

They uncovered a clandestine drug laboratory, drug-making equipment and an unnamed type of machine gun at a house at Craigieburn.

 

A 34-year-old Craigieburn man was charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of ecstasy, manufacturing amphetamines, as well as other serious drug offences and firearm possession.

 

 

 

 

 

 

A Melton man, 45, was charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of amphetamines and possessing a handgun.

 

Both men were remanded to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

 

Four other men were also arrested and interviewed over amphetamines possession and trafficking.

 

One was charged with drug offences and bailed to appear in court at a later date.

 

The three other men are expected to be charged on summons.

 

 

Wow, thats alot of stuff to get busted for. Even between six people, I'd say they'll still be going to jail for a while. No sympathy from me though, as i dont agree with ANYONE selling that other stuff, be it speed, x, whatever

eccys can kill a person their very first hit, not only that, every hit does permanent damage to the brain....

 

to me, any illegal drug that comes in pill or powder form should have an extremely low tolerance policy for dealers of those substances...they cause too much death, crime and poverty in society and should be treated accordingly

I too had heard that ecstasy can damage you in one go. But, then I heard that the claim had been retracted by the researchers who made it as they had used a bottle of methamphetamine by mistake in that experiment. I had gone around telling a few people of the dangers of it before I found out of the retraction, and was then really embarrassed.

Apparently ecstasy can be quite a safe drug to use if legal.

Crickey, I think that I'm going to stick to the policy of taking every negative drug report with a grain of salt from now on.

Besides, you "turn-coats" shouldn't be bailing on your drug-using brethren I believe, just because you don't use these things yourself. I think it's better to find some political common ground with these people and use their support in numbers to get all the drug laws changed for all of us. You know, it's even more of an imperative for the users of these hard, powdered drugs because they can be more easily contaminated? Not like "natures own" home grown which is just fabulous plant material! You could help them out by advocating an end to their amphetamine prohibition, instead of saying ha: it's them and not me. No-one should be getting busted for anything.

You think you're any safer just because you know that your drug is a lot safer? Ha! The prohibitionists aren't interested in the relative rights and wrongs of the drug properties! If they were marijuana would have been legalised long ago and tobacco probably made illegal by now! So, the prohibitionists are after you just as much as them in their pretentious crusade!

God have mercy on the souls of these prohibitionists. They'll be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.

there have been thousands if not millions of scientific studies done on all the illegal drugs in society and while you get the occassional study that says when used in moderation a drug is safe, the fact of the matter is that every drug including marijuana changes your brains chemistry as well as destroying cells in the brain...with time alot of the damage done can be recovered with some of the drugs but from literally EVERY study i have read up or seen about extasy, they have said that every pill changes your brain chemistry to such an extent that only part of the damage can be recovered which reduces dramically with continued use :thumbdown same has been said about the majority of the other powder drugs out there from what i have read and seen....

 

now for personal experiences, i have only ever known 3 people who take herion, all 3 stole from me, only known a few people that take speed as well, all have stolen from me, the people who have taken eccys, suprise suprise, have all stolen from me :thumbdown seriously the only group of people that take drugs that have not stolen from me have been stoners....there was 1 guy actually, but i later found out it was actually his girlfriend that stole my bottle of booze and she had popped an eccy that night, shame the slag didnt dehydrate and die but she fucked her life away a few months later by giving birth at the age of 17 and dropping out of school so karma has its own way of getting back at people

 

the point to my ramblings is that those harder drugs bring alot of pain and suffering to society at large, eg. why do you think there are heaps of druggo prostitutes? i dont think they are out there sucking and fucking for buds

Having said that, I had a friend once who was into methamphetamine and pot at various times and I think he stole my Swiss Army knife! So, I kept his Trivial Pursuit game. Actually it was his wifes. I don't know for sure if it was him but I'm keeping it just in case.

I have not been free from sin, though. I have stolen from my friends supply of marijuana when he wasn't at home. It's a terrible tale of debauchery.

Sorry, but I absolutely detest people selling and using 'hard' drugs. The same as WDC, I've had a couple of friends who've used various different 'harder' drugs, even someone VERY close to me. They ALL ended up fucking me over for something or other, one of them even took a bat to my car because i fronted him about HIM stealing MY ps2!! I havent read alot of studies about the different drugs, but I HAVE seen what they do to people with my own eyes, and it isnt nice. Tell me, how much fun would it be to have a conversation sitting at a table with someone, and every 5 minutes the person just zonks out, their head falls foward and drool starts coming out their mouth (heroin). Never mind. It just makes me fucking sick. I dont need studies to tell me that much.

 

I've NEVER had to steal to support my pot-smoking habit (ill admit i have one), I know how tough it can be not being able to smoke, I go crazy. But thats no excuse to go rip other peoples stuff off. I gave myself the habit, why hurt other people to keep it going?
