That's against the law, it was probably one of the first laws passed after federation. :: Seriously though I know several very good state and federal politicians, the problem is that they don't get enough votes to be listened to or they are overly constricted by the "party line", that's where the public needs to get behind their elected representatives and support them or kick their arses into gear.

 

Your local politician won't listen to you? Form an action group and send him/her/it a committee, they listen then as 50 - 100 voters have a lot more influence than just one at the next election.

crime stoppers have shit like that down here. but its not just a once off, its every bloody year!

they have a paedophile week, dealer week, car theft week and i think theres more, but they actually run for 2-3 weeks (each). nobody takes much notice anymore, they just put up posters on buses and people ignore it.
