2 charged after cops find a half-ton of marijuana

SOUTHWEST SIDE -- Chicago Police confiscated 1,000 pounds of marijuana found in a Southwest Side garage Sunday and charged the owner and a friend with drug trafficking, officials said.

 

Carlos Gomez, 27, of the 4100 block of West 78th Street, and Andres Nevarez, 28, of the 6200 block of South Francisco Avenue, were charged with manufacturing and delivering cannabis, said police spokeswoman Laura West. Gomez owns the garage, West said.

 

Police received an anonymous tip that marijuana was being stored in the garage, West said. The marijuana has a street value of about $3 million, she said.

 

Gomez and Nevarez are due in court Jan. 2, West said.

storing it is a good idea if you're gonna grow it .. clear all sign of growing ... then sell it ... its the selling of it that usually gets the grower busted...imo

 

heard that it will keep totally fresh and potent for up to 18 months if stored below minus 15c, preferably minus 20 :scratchin

Also heard of people burrying it in the ground as the best way to keep it in storage. Anyone heard/done this before? :smoke

apparently what they do in Thailand ... but you need to be really careful of it molding - not sure how they do it .. like what its wrapped in ... must need to be breathed quite regularly you'd think :scratchin
