Mother and son charged over cannabis haul

Recommended Posts

A 69-year-old Perth pensioner and her son have been charged over the distribution of cannabis between Western Australia and South Australia.

Police allegedly uncovered 3.1 kilograms of compressed cannabis heads in a package which was transported by road courier between the two states.

Detective Senior Sergeant Neville Dockery says police searched the woman's unit in Redcliffe last week.

He says police have charged Evelyn Elizabeth Harvey and her son, Johnny Edward Harvey, of Prospect in South Australia, with attempting to posses cannabis with intent to sell or supply.

"We will allege that Mrs Harvey, due to her age, has been used as a depot for the transportation and distribution of drugs," he said.

"We will allege that the drugs were addressed to the house in Redcliffe and from there they were distributed to other dealers."

Ms Harvey is due to appear in court tomorrow and her son was released on bail last week, to appear in a Perth court in March.

A bit more information:

Pensioner, son face drug charges

A 69-YEAR-old Perth pensioner and her 39-year-old son have been charged with drug offences.

Both were arrested last week after West Australian police intercepted a package, allegedly mailed by the son in South Australia to his mum and containing 3.16kg of compressed cannabis head.

Both have been charged with attempting to possess a prohibited drug with intent.

The son appeared in the Perth Court of Petty Sessions on Friday and was bailed to appear in May next year.

Police allege Johnny Edward Harvey, who lives in the Adelaide suburb of Prospect, sent the cannabis to Evelyn Elizabeth Harvey's home in Redcliffe, in Perth's east, for the "on supply of other people".

Organised Crime Detective Senior Sergeant Neville Dockery said police believed the mother was knowingly involved in the alleged interstate trafficking of cannabis.

He alleges drugs had been mailed to the pensioner for some months.

"We believe that we have interrupted an interstate supply line," Det Snr Sgt Dockery said.

The mother is due to appear before the Perth Court of Petty Sessions tomorrow.

Police say inquiries are continuing and further charges may be laid.

"If convicted we will apply to the court to have both of them declared drug traffickers," he said.

That would mean the pair would come under WA's tough proceeds of crime legislation and any property they own could be confiscated by the state.

In October, Australia's oldest convicted drug traffickers David William Sidney Davies, 82, and his wife Florence Gladys Davies, 78 lost their home of 50 years under the legislation.

The pair was convicted in the District Court last year of of possessing cannabis with intent to sell or supply after police found 18.7kg of the illegal drug above a false ceiling in the couple's home, a further 300g in an ice-cream container under their bed, and $7000 in cash hidden under the driver's side seat of their car.

Their son, Tyssul Davies, pleaded guilty and later claimed possession of all the cannabis.

that is way to risky even sending clones in the mail would have the hair on my balls standing but than again ive sent mostly big parcels that need 1 on 1 service over the counter would be ok if it fits in the mail box than there's always the chance of getting busted = search warrant for your home :shy: :thumbdown persoanlly i would never do it dont give the cops a reason for a warrant u stay safe :thumbsup

think thats scary? imagine getting cuttings and/or buds sent to your safe addy but under a different person's name....you get home to find out that the posty has already come and gone and you have to go pickup the package after 4pm :D well i dont need to imagine + can tell you how to get the package even though aussie post shouldnt give it to you :D

all you have to do is get the slip that was left by the posty, get a friend or family member to sign the name the package was sent to and then sign your name on there as well...just make sure you spell the name it was addressed to correctly and dont go by the name written down on the slip as once they spelt the last name wrong on the slip but was correct on the package and when i handed the slip over, they told me the name was wrong, but when they looked at the signature and it was spelt correctly, i recieved the package :shy:

usually if im in that situation, i'll just hand the slip over and say im picking it up for my friend as he broke his leg yesterday in a motorcycle accident or something along those lines, nothing usually gets said and package is handed straight over :thumbsup

seriously though, if you are gonna send suspect things in the mail, make it a minimal amount and put some effort into hiding the contents ;)

would love to know the area u live in :D (no need to reply) our post office's around my area are very strict you even need to show ID to pick up a parcel if a parcel was sent to me by normal post and i recieved a letter saying i needed to pick it up i would kiss it good by unless its registered post i just reckon sending stuff like that in the mail is just to risky something i would never do (send or recive) seeds are ok as its in a stealth packed and small amount :shy:
