New at bonging!

Recommended Posts

Hi Team,

Got my first bong. I mull my stuff up, put it in the cone, packing it gently. I then light up but have to suck so hard to get anything through. Sometimes nothing comes thru at all.

What I do is pull the cone out, and shove the point of a nail thru the small hole in the cone and then relight. I then can get some thru. All tubes are clear, just seems to be the cone.

Obviously this is not the way things are done. :( What am I doing wrong? Mulling too fine? Too coarse? Packing too tight? :devilred:

It sounds like you're probably mulling too coarse AND packing too tight. Unblock everything, and make sure it's clean.

Pack your cone by scooping it through your mull, then level it out. VERY LIGHTLY pack down to make sure excess mull doesn't blow out the top.

Try smoking it again. As for consistensy of the mull, it should be in 1-2m granulated pieces, or much much finer than you would need for a J.

Another thing it could be as well the hole in the cone pice could be a bit to small, as i have brough cone pices before and had to drill the hole out a little more because it got blocked every cone i had through it...

been there, through the cunt out instead and bought a new one :devilred:

cone pieces are cheap as piss, roll up to your local bong shop with $20 and you'll walk out with heaps of different cone pieces of various sizes + a few extra stems....that way when either the stem, cone piece or both get clogged, you can rip it all out and replace it all in about 20-30 seconds :(

There's also the option of using a "screen"/mesh in the cone. It's wire mesh that allows you to burn more of the weed without it being sucked through too early, very popular in the states, as featured in "Hits from the bong":

"...when I pack a fresh bowl I clean the screen..."

Bowl is what they call a cone over there btw :smoke

Me, I like to have a bit of residue in the bong that I can scrape out, dry and smoke when I've run out. Ah, maybe I shouldn't have admitted that! :devilred:

Another tip, beware of using brass and aluminium together, as they can chemically bond and make it impossible to unscrew. Better yet, avoid screw in fittings and also aluminium! :(

I find that with c.ps that have screens are usualy un punchable.

You should try pulling with the c.p empty and see if that works, then try without the c.p in your stem.

If it works without the c.p in, then the problem is in your c.p.

If it doesnt work with the c.p out then your stem migh be cloged.

Also make sure its air tight.

If there is air coming in between your stem and the chabmer then it wont work.

You should also have some matches, toothpicks or skewers... or some other thin, wooden thing to unblock the cone. You will start to recognise when your cone is getting tight and just give it a jab with the match and it will be clear and ready for the next pack.

Mind you, keep all your fittings clean, besides making your smoko taste nicer it stops you finding dead roaches in your bong. Clean it out every brew, if you wipe the cone with some paper towel or unscented TP after using it the warmth will soften all the crap and it cleans a lot easier.

Yeh if its not airtight it will be useless when I was poor and desperate and had to make homemade bongs I just siliconed up the places where a little air might come through (not recommended in places where u light it) or if your ever poorer (like i was) use blu tack. just pack lightly n chop finer maybe make sure u have your finger on the hole and that its airtight and nothing should be wrong.

p.s what type of bong u have?
