:devilred: hi all, been quiet for a while. just put a new room together and finishing it off. was wondering what ppl think of a twin 600 in a 1200x1000 area with 1800 head height??? i got 2 150mm fans coming in with a duct running all round the bottom wall putting air everywhere and a 250mm exhaust, thinking of another in the roof. just dunno about the twin 6`s though.....givus your thoughts folks...

I wouldn't run 2x 600w's in there...

Played around with lighting alot over the past year, here are my tips for you.

- If you can afford 2 lights, ALWAYS get 1 x MH and 1 x HPS, not 2 of the same.... no matter what people tell you HPS by itself can never compete with both HPS and MH spectrums.

- 600wHPS is the best output/watt light range, the Son-T-Plus is the most technically efficient bulb.

- 2 x 400W lights (1 x MH & 1 x HPS), put out as much heat as a single 600w HPS (with SunMaster bulbs).

- At 400w... SunMaster > Son-T.

- At 600w... Son-T > SunMaster.

- More lights = better area coverage. Higher wattage does not necessiarly provide the same.

- It is possible to cool 2 x 600w HPS lights in an area less than 2m x 2m x 2m. It's HARD though! lol

Looking at your info - I'd personally opt for 2 x 400w lights, 1 MH and 1 HPS, if that is still too hot - possibly a 400wHPS and 250wMH.

If you are going to run a separate veg room or lights then go for 2 x 600w HPS for the flower cycle and MH globes for veg, if you are going to use the lights for both veg and flower the go for an HPS/MH combination type globe such as the Son-T's, you can get combination globes for both MH and HPS ballasts.

Types of HID lights used for growing:

Metal Halide - mostly for veg stage.

High Pressure Sodium – mostly for flowering stage.

Horticultural - HPS/MH combination - veg and flower stages (Son-T-Agro, Son-T-Plus, Lucagrow, etc.).

Not technically HPS/MH Tom, the Son-T's are still essentially HPS lamps, just configured with certain chemicals to add a percenage of blue light to the spectrum.... unless I'm mistaken (and please correct me if so), the HPS "Horticultural" bulbs don't actually contain any Halide in any elemental or gaseous form?

MH lights also provide alot more of the UV spectrum with more intensity than HPS (although still not as high as their output of the visible light spectrum), this is speculated to increase resin content - I believe the link between UV-B and Resin/Trichome production was documented somewhere on OverGrow?

Not arguing, I'm just an obsessive-compulsive for detail ;)

lol
