Keeping Water Fresh

Recommended Posts

Hi all, i am just getting ready for my 2nd grow, this time i want to use some nutes suitable for a 100% coco grow.

I have a big 80L tub that i will store my water in, i plan to hand water just because its easy for me. If i add my nutes and adjust the ph level in this 80L tub, what is the best way to keep it fresh, the water could possibly be sitting there for a few weeks until i need to top it up again.

I have a medium sized air pump with a large stone to keep the water air rated and it pumps out enough air to swirl the water around a little tiny bit.

I just know that water loses its natural nutrients (or what ever ya wanna call them) when left for 24hours even.

Will my added nutrients be ok to sit there for a few weeks at a time?

yeah maybe if i just put a water pump in there and take off the hose so its circulating the water, i'll see how that goes.

That will be quite sufficient, it would also be benificial if the pump has one of the air-valve attachments to attach and airpump and have the pump adding oxygen to the water.

The attachments are easily purchasable from a pet/aquarium store and airpumps only cost $20-$40.. the results would be worth it especially if you wanted to use the res setup at some point for a flood/drain or SWC/DWC system.

(Or if you have an airpump and airstones just add them to the water along with the water-pump).

Hi

If you have a decent volume pump that justs moves the water around the tank 24/7 and you have decent surface area you will add more air to the water than an airstone , and if you add a cheap fountain Bell , its a fountain thats like a basket ball size bubble , the attachment is about $10 from bunnings and fits on any pump , you can adjust the size if the bell to be a round ball or like a flat spray that can spread 3ft by about a 2 inches thick they are great for airating your tank and kill airstones hands down , airstones are not very efficiant at all .
