Hygromite

Setting up first hydro setup....how clean do the hygromite clay rocks need to be? Is a rinse good enough or should they be thoroughly cleaned? Thanks in advance.

You will want to give them a really good wash or you will end up with a lot of clay dust in your reservoir

First off hi and welcome to ozstoners BoRacho, i have only used those clay balls once and befor i used them i let them soak over night in ph ajusted water and then gave them a rince in ph ajusted water and had no probs, not sure if u have to wash them or not but i did as it got a lot of the fine dust off them that builds up... i found they need a good rinsing till the water is clear .. I got so much dust off the first batch i used I thought i had some kind of special algae build up in my nute tub ... big thick layer of clay dust it turned out to be ... then I learned to rinse them ... never soaked overnight ... but it can't hurt i reckon once you've3 rinsed them til the water is clear, dont think you can gettem any cleaner
