Temps And Airflows

Recommended Posts

Heya all i was wondering if anyone had done any research on the best temperatures for plants to be in at different stages of there growth cycle. I am also curious as to the different climatic inclinations of different breeds do the incs like it hotter than the sats or vise versa and do cross breeds react strangely to these temperatures.

I know im pushing it here but would anyone have any ideas about the ideal humidity or if it would even matter.

Im guessing that the plants all around would prefere moving air rather than static air but what sort of flow rates are we talking here (i dunno how this would be measured)

just to throw some food for thought a nursery friend of mine has convinced me with his bonzai plants that playing plants music especially bass oriented music surprisingly helps. This may seem really really out of the planet but we have tested the theory with alot of bonzai young and old it the evidence can only be described as conclusive. Music helps

Interesting subject you raise there..temperatures and humidity

Think somewhere around 28C is good for overall growth and THC production

in nature weed grows in both extremes from the hot, arid deserts of Lebbanon to damp, humid jungles of Thialand

Heat does promote resin production but on the other hand heat and light destroys THC

I beleive air flow is just as important as water and nutrients, and have a big airflow in my G-room in which you can feel the air coming thru, and they love it

in winter i do slow it down though

As for music i agree with you 100%, plants like music

and would like to have music in my G-room 24/7, as it is i talk constantly to my plants when im in there :peace:

Hi

Airflow is probably the most important aspect of a grow room that people take for granted as is water quality , they fool around with all sorts of snake oils following hydroponic marketing hype and half by ignore the free elements of air and water , my rooms work on about a 1 degree temperature rise per 400 watts of lighting , thats in a warm climate , outside temp is 25 at night average and 6 x400 lights with 2 express air fans out and 2 in , its about 30 to 32 and very fresh , I move lots of air and have ocillating fans blowing around the room 24/7 .

Heya all i was wondering if anyone had done any research on the best temperatures for plants to be in at different stages of there growth cycle.

I have read that 28.4 degrees celcius is the optimal temperature, but anything between 25 - 30 works all good :smoke

well i know for a fact sativas can handle the heat a bit better, indicas just droop and look sad when it gets really hot but a sativa in the same garden can look fine :D about the worst i have seen from moving plants to different regions is buds that are like pencils instead of cans of coke because they were grown out of season and in the wrong climate....as for hybrids and their reactions, they tend to have better heath and vigor due to being a hybrid and can usually handle those situations better, but chances are they'll act like any other mj plant in the long run...

I know im pushing it here but would anyone have any ideas about the ideal humidity or if it would even matter.

marijuana thrives in vege with heaps high humidity, sadly if that high state of humidity is maintained during flowering, its bound to cause mold :thumbdown just try and keep the grow room filled with fresh air, to be honest, humidity isnt that big of a deal + water evapourates from the pots causing a humidity build up so it isnt something you have to worry about at all unless its too high during flowering in which case you need more extraction fans...

Im guessing that the plants all around would prefere moving air rather than static air but what sort of flow rates are we talking here (i dunno how this would be measured)

im not sure of the math to get the air capacity of a grow room (someone else will more than likely put it up though) but you should aim to replace the air in the grow room atleast twice a minute...this is to keep temps down + a consistantly fresh supply of air for the plants....

mythbusters did a test on that, heavy metal won hands down :shy:

((( humidity isnt that big of a deal )))

Except when its too high as it causes the plant to transpire less , that means its not assimulating the volume of nutrients and water that it would in a dryer environment , I live in a hot very humid area , the plants will grow ok when its like 80% humidity , the leaves will curl in and up like a canoe shape with a very pronouced serated edge , the same plant with the aircon on that pulls the room back to 40% will straighten its leaves and loose the curling inside 2 wks , the curling is the plants way of getting rid of excess water by the principle of hot air rising ( upcurl ) and increased surface area and airflow ( serated edge ) .

Like anything too an extreme is not good for plants and will handicap them in some way , a plant grows according to "Blackmans Law" , basicly a plant will perform only to the weakest link in its life line ,,,, in plain english if your water is bad or your air is wrong great nutrient and snake oil additives are doing nothing but wasting money .
