'Stamp out dope' to tackle psychosis

Recommended Posts

as one of these so called "drug induced psychotics" i found that mj had no other effect on my well being or lack of, other than making me "dumb/numb?" so that i could continue living a lie.

what induced my episodes was the fact i worked for almost 6 years in retail whilst at school full time without a break or holiday in a small mid west comunity. i smoked to make me dumb like everyone else.

to me it has the same effect as taking antidepressants without the added side effects and long term damage caused by the meds. i have since had a good rest a break from pot and medicin and am now enjoying mj on weekends for fun with a balenced lifestyle.

the reason that the mental health service is failing is because of the lack of funding lack of information and the fact that noone seems to really care. we give you drugs we temporaraly mask the problem but cant heal it because we have no faith and your a drug user its your own fault.

outlawing mull is only going to fuel its reputaion and because it is illicit people will want to try it. just like drinking when you are 15 .. its cool because it is illeagal.

mull is easy to blame because it can alter things in your head and i agree with .. tom i think .. younguns should not smoke it too young. as it has the potential to exagerate already existant problems and stunt development.

in short. everything is poison if abused. education is the key not criminalisation. and whats natural or sane or even normal anyway?

/end rant.

It is far easier for politicians to blame pot for the mental health woes of the country rather than actually spending money on mental health, which has been chronically underfunded for decades. Ask any psychiatrist if he prefer to see more resources for mental health or increased penalities for pot use. Extra resources wins everytime.

The evidence for this is the fact that a magistrate sees so many people with psychosis - these people should be in hospital being treated by doctors not in the legal system.

Also he is wrong to say smoking a cigarette on a railway platform will attract a $500 fine and cannabis only a caution. The railway signage says "Smoking of any substance is not permitted" - so its a $500 from the railway police AND A CAUTION from the NSW police.
