PH ajustment

Recommended Posts

It shouldn't take that long, ask them to post it express if they must, although you'll probably find that they'll need hazchem precautions taken if they're sensible.

Far better to use small amounts of pH down to your water, (as it's almost always too alkaline) and try and get to the right level (5.5 - 6.3 or so in hydro) there without adding up at all. Use household vinegar if you're restricted in supply, but get the right stuff pronto.

Far better to not use sodium bicarbonate at all. B)

Using too much up and down ph adjusters will add excessive nutrients to your water. If you're finding that you're jumping about too much by adding too much, then perhaps dilute the ph up and down with water. (always add ph adjusters to water, not water to ph adjusters) This will make them less potent, and allow you to more accurately dose. But over time, you'll find that only a few drops per 10L of solution is usually all that's required. Local water supplies will always be different, for instance it's about 10-12 drops per 10L of pH down for myself, but with time and experience, you'll find it easier and easier.

Hope that helps.

I would suggest if you are using everything other than the "norm" use "Lime" and if you got to much you use "Epson Salts" to correct it back.

But be very careful and only use very small amounts in a test " bucket of water only" first.

Then i personally keep some adjusted water in a bottle to use as a " small incremental PH adjuster".

Hey ozmade I would agree with Luke Skywalker in his method but here's some old school advice to raise the pH in the soil. Each requires adding some form of Alkali in the growing medium. Examples include calcium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, lime and several other compounds. The easiest and most convenient way to raise and stabilize the pH of soil is to add fine dolmite lime and hydrated lime before planting (Patten 1995).

I haven't tried this before but found some stuff in a book called "Gardening Indoors" by George F. Van Patten. Though its not MJ related its still invaluable as it covers all topics that the MJ grower would be concerned about. Plus its always good to have info that is in hard copy form for easy access and reference. Happy growing :smoke !

the ph level of baking soda is about 8.1

if you want to lower it use a couple drops of vinegar...i hear it helps
