Most new computer power supplys are 400 watt, so a couple of lights really isn't that big a deal anyway, maybe if your running 3000-4000 watts but for your average Joe it is not a problem.

is that right ? so a computer burns the same power as a 400watt HPS? sheeIT, I have like 3 computers permanantly switched on with another 2 or 3 than are on all day ... so I just need to switch off 3 and I can run 2 more 600HPS and no one will notice the differerece? Dsyf .. tell me this is so !

That's right - some go up to 500W+ for lots of hard drives, CPUs etc.

Don't complicate it.

they can only measure usage and its all guy comes around every quarter or so takes a reading i.e 234354, comes back another quarter 234400,

234400-234254 = 146 kWh x @Rate = your bill.

The billing is automatic.

The staff is minimal

The biggest department is the marketing and finance department.

Not viable for a power company (private or not) to hire smucks to watch your meter usage. doesn't happen, but they will hire smucks to find out where all these kilowatts have gone missing!

excellent .. I just bought a second 600 lucagrow HPS to replace a 400 I have .. its going into my mini-sog area to get it chranking ... think the 600w in place of the 400 will have an effect in the main chamber .... we shall see - wheeee! from now on the server and two other pc's will be shut off at 5pm ... so I should be using slightly less power than before ... MUhahaha ...

the power supply can use up to 400watts i reckon a standard computer would bairly use 200watts now if u run say 2 CD-ROM drives two of those little disk thingos beef up the internals in the tower plus run your sceen off the towers power supply than it will draw a little more juice

Switch your pc off when not in use for long periods of time, or when the grow lights go on, then your bill should be roughly about the same... If you are only using a 400 watter. Thats my thinking.

I have 2 pcs and a laptop running 24\7 at mine. ( havent started grow yet.)
