Hey, Any help on drying would be great.

Recommended Posts

Hey, I am currently doing a growdiary and It's coming near the end..

I just wanted to know if any of you would be able to tell me the best method of drying, I finished a Purple Haze plant at a friends, and been testing different ways of drying, I put half oz. in a drawer, with newpaper all in there, I even got a little bit and put it under the 400w light, and some in the Oven "Gf's dad cameover and was like It'll work" so I let him go, but it shrunk the buds toomuch, they still got me :thumbsup but I wanted to know if anyone knew a really good way to keep the thc in the buds. ( I heard hanging it was supposed to be very good )

Cheers,

HalfBaked.

I thought most of us either stuck it in paper bags or just hung it in the closet.

Both of my completed grows have harvest pics and explinations on what I did, I hang it in a closet for 7-10 days to let dry, and then painters-tubs (air-sealable) for the curing process.

WDC also posted pics of his harvest hanging in a closet to dry in his White Rhino thread.

There's lots of ways to harvest/cure, check the harvest and curing forum out.

Ultimately the best way to learn what to do is pick your preferred methods from the experiences of others.

I just picked a small outdoor plant and hung it in the closet for around 5 days now it is snap dry (branches snap) and I have manicured the buds and put them in a glass jar.

I'll probably do the same thing next time but for a bit longer as I intend for the plants to be bigger = more moisture to get rid of.

I'm not entirely sure but I think the best way is the slowest way. That is: hang them in a dark, cool (23-26C), and dry place. Not too dry (humidity %, anyone?). Make sure the air isn't stagnant, but also free from drafts.

Make sure the buds aren't in constant contact with each other. I do this and it takes 2 - 4 weeks, depending on the weather. Keep in mind heat and light destroy THC (I think), so drying under a 400 WATT would almost be considered sacrilegious.

Says the man mixing tobacco with mull ;)

Eikel said it best when you should choose the method that works best for you. Experiment. Drying is only half of the end process...

Enjoy your finished product

:)

Yep , These guys r right.

:)

Hangin' it up Is most traditional way I know , preferebly somewhere cool but dry.

:)

The last thing you want to do is "Force Dry" your budz as this always ruins it a little.

;)

Unless you only have a small amount , Your budz should be drying for at least a week Imo.

:)

Watch out for mould ofc.

:)

I just found a few budz Id just wrapped in news paper , folded and stuffed in abox , last night , they were compressed and well cured ;) , But I hang most plants/heads up In my cupboard (Which is too dry for my liking sometimes , but Its all I have really :))

;)

If You put a small peice of orange peel in the drawer with your budz to dry , this can help regulate the moisture.

Basically , from what I know , A slow dry is the best way to keep the mass , flavour , potency , In the bud properly o.k. :)

Bye for now. : )
