The smell of my weed

Recommended Posts

Ive just harvested my 1st out of 3 plants and ive already hung it up to dry and recently i moved it to a glass jar. Ive noticed that it doesnt even smell like weed it smells more that grass trimmings from your lawn. I was just wondering why it wasnt smelling much like weed and if there was something i did wrong during the process so i wont do it to my other 2 plants.

Howdy, It may be because your bud was still a little too wet when you put it in the jar. Maybe dry it for a bit longer and the start curing.

yeah i mean it smelled really good on the plant but ever since i trimmed it it smells like fresh cut grass from your lawn.

Maybe it's just the nature of the strain you have. Wait until it dries properly, then have a smoke, if it does the job, then it's all good. :P I wouldn't worry about it too much not having a strong smell.

Some Strains will smell "Skunky".

Some Strains will smell "Fruity".

Some Strains will smell "Vomity".

Some Strains will smell "Grassy".

... etc etc etc.....

From personal experience I find my plants smell more "weedy" when moist, and more "grassy" when dry... that said however, out of 3 plants, all grown/dried/cured with the same conditions:

WB#3 smelled Sweet/Fruity.

NL smelled Skunky/Vomity.

WB#2 smelled Sweet/Grassy.

I believe the only way you can introduce a more "grassy" smell, is by leaving more leaf-matter on the actual buds after performing your manicure.

Taking a leaf from Everest's book - Why do you think it's also referred to as "Grass"? :P

I have been thinking about this too. I bought some stuff from nimbin (I was desperate!) and it smelled really fruity and nice. However, after a month in a jar the smell all but disappeared to almost nothing.

I found some seeds in this bag (I know, bad, but I have real seeds now!) and grew them out. The stuff has no really strong smell either.

Is it possible commercial growers add something, say an essential oil mix to get the herb smelling nice? People always smell before they buy after all. I am so sure I could smell a hint of eucalyptus!
