cloning in a Polyester sponge!

Terkel

Recommended Posts

Well, a grower from dcfonline (a Danish grow forum where i'm active) have successfully germinated seeds in Polyester sponges (for cleaning) instead of rockwool cubes!

So now i'm trying to make clones in the same media.

I've made 20 cuttings and placed them in polyester sponges, and placed them in my humidity dome. i'm using rooting hormone as normal.

I will make a feedback on the results of my experiment as soon as they are rooting.

Can tyou give us the sponge type (specs), info Terkel

Well i don't know which types of sponges you have down under, but its standard cleaning polyester sponges with a green nylon layer on one side ( 9*5*3 cm)

First i clean them in plain water, then i cut them in two and make a hole in the middle. then i dip them in a very mild solution of fertilizer (the same way i do with rockwool cubes). Thats it

I hope you know what type of sponges i'm talking about nitram!?

The roots have no problems with that restricting them as they grow larger?

My fellow grower from Denmark had no problems in that direction, but i have had the same thoughts!. As you can see on the pictures from the link in the top, it seems like the roots have no problems penetrating the nylon. But if its a problem its not a big problem removing that layer.

but lets see how my clones are doing in a week...
