Lamp Replacement

Recommended Posts

i have 2 lights int he same grow room, 1 is slightly newer than the other but missed being used on one of the grows that the other shined upon...anyways, the one that hasnt been used as much starts off a shit load more blue and stays that way for alot longer than the older one...the older one starts off in a deep orange colour and then works its way to being more blue.....

the old one should be getting replaced in a month or 2, but globes can be pretty expensive, especially when on the dole and you dont make money from weed :thumbdown

ive been using the same 4 x 1000' watt euro's in a G-room for over 2 yrs. same yield as when i first got em. so doesnt make much sense to me to replace - at least until either the yield drops or the globe stops working i used to have a theory that the guys selling these things were just making us change em to make em more money.

Agree with you perrye75, let them keep glowing as long as they can efficiently.

1000w, I had one with a 'glass growth' on it once after about 12 mths, discarded. Another wouldn't fire up, half way thro flower :shy: (ALWAYS have a SPARE globe) , discarded.

One now is at the end of about 2 years straight 12/12, no probs.

Thanks for chart sydneyguy - 24000 hrs, sounds right yep.

just to add another point, did u know that the euro 1000watters put out more lumens than the american ones.

also, i recently 'blew' a couple of 1000watters (accidently plugging a euro hps into a mh balast!). replaced 2 globes with brand new ones, which were run side by side to 2 x yr old 1000 watters. and the results were same sized buds, same yield etc. no difference.

gazza i would say it was more likely a one off 'fault', of the ballast perhaps. i have 8 euro ballast and they only 'hum' as much as any other ballast when they first turn on... then there fine. however, i would say that the 'new' ballasts on the market now are definitely quieter than the old style ones that ive had for about 10 yrs+
