Yeah standard proceedure with my cuttings, seems they strip out the chlorophil?, nutrients,and sugars to sustain themselves till they can uptake from newly formed roots.

None of the leaves in that picture look dead enough to fall off on their own, some are yellow, some are brown halfway and green the rest, none are completely brown. When the plant is done with the leaf it will drop off and leaving a semi dead leaf on it won't hurt it unless it is diseased.

 

Purpling can be a sign of a nutrient deficiency. Have you given the cuttings a spritz with a mild solution of water and superthrive? While the cutting don't have roots to absorb nutrients they can take them in through the leaves. Give them a light spray when they need it at the start of the dark period (don't get them wringing wet) and do get a humidicrib for them, it helps alot.

I've still gotta find out what Superthrive is ... I've been using half strength TotalCone - a yellow coloured liquid - been misting all the clones about 4-5 times every 24 hours - hoping thats not too much - I have 2 humidi plastic covers for the clone trays but both are in use on other trays

 

(I'm making lots for practice and coz I don't know sex of any of them yet .. so expecting to have to ditch quite a few)

 

I've kept the trays under the cover for the first week then take it off and replace with gladwrap kinda draped to cover the trays partly - less gladwrap every day - my first batch of clonez were 7 days under a cover and I left it off by mistake for 3 hours - came back and they were plastered to everything they could droop on - so I'm gradulally getting them use to no humidi cover .. I should get another 1 or 2 maybe and keep them under it for longer.

thanks mate - wondering if the clonez will do better under 18/6 .... can't do 20/4 until I work out my timers (gotta sleep sometimes) :: and its ALL manual for now.

 

The first batch of clones I did (and left the cover off of) have proved the "as long as you are left with atleast 1 grow tip when the clone roots ..." thats all that I was left with on about 7 of the 16 and they're slowly snappin back in the vegging area.

Animal, thanks for the advice and input dude - (now I'm torn over what to do ) I'll see what 'feels' right when I'm looking attem and I'll keep developments current in the grow diary.

Apart from the "root-lock" I find it most amusing that your biggest problem with the grow is being unable to decipher the timers :: you know most 1st grows have serious problems.
