Can anyone tell me anything about the colour changes these clones are experiencing?

I read somewhere that yellowing lower leaves is a sign of healthy rooting going on? The attached pic shows the yellowing (no sign of roots yet - they're about 8-9 days old) but there are also some other colours .. back left the newer leaves look like they have a purple/dark? colour happening also -

just wondering if this is a sign of something i dont know about? :scratchin

im no clone king like stonedas but from what i have read up about cuttings, my guess is that the leaves are dying off because the cuttings are under 24/0 of light and are trying to grow instead of growing roots...

i have seen it happen countless times, sometimes it doesnt happen at all :scratchin but as long as you are left with atleast 1 grow tip when the clone roots youu should be laughing :thumbsup

btw, from that pic it looks like they are sitting in water, not a good idea as it keeps the cubes too moist and doesnt allow them to get very warm at all :thumbdown you can pick up those green seedling trays that are used in mini green houses for like 60 cents at woolies and they will suspend the cube about 1/2 a centimetre from the water or what ever is under the cubes :peace:

Its not an indication of rooting it just means they are getting hungry waiting to root. They look mostly healthy though I wouldn't worry. Chop off the leaves that are stuffed.

dont chop those leaves off untill the cutting is rooted....simple reason is that the leaves you would cut off still contain a small amount of nutrients the cutting can use but more importantly, if you cut the semi dead leaves off, it will only force the plant to take its nutrients from the next leaf up :thumbdown

once the cutting is rooted, you just need to make sure the cutting has a supply of nutes and it wont matter wether those leaves are still attatched or not :peace:

Cutting yellow/dead leaves off is never a bad idea. They're a burdon on the plant and the fact they've turned yellow or died means they've already been sucked dry of their nutrient content.

once the entire leaf has dried up then yes it doesnt exactly matter wether its on the plant or not but when the leaf is merely yellow, it still has a fair amount of nutrients and should be left on the cutting...not only that, it causes stress on the cutting which could be easily avoided just by ignoring a leaf that you deem ugly :(

one important thing you should know about plants is that no matter what the situation, cutting any part of a plant wether its for a cutting or a leaf you dont like, it causes stress and damage to the plant which takes time and effort to repair.....never a bad idea and burdon on the plant? :peace:

None of the leaves in that picture look dead enough to fall off on their own, some are yellow, some are brown halfway and green the rest, none are completely brown. When the plant is done with the leaf it will drop off and leaving a semi dead leaf on it won't hurt it unless it is diseased.

Purpling can be a sign of a nutrient deficiency. Have you given the cuttings a spritz with a mild solution of water and superthrive? While the cutting don't have roots to absorb nutrients they can take them in through the leaves. Give them a light spray when they need it at the start of the dark period (don't get them wringing wet) and do get a humidicrib for them, it helps alot.
