How long can I wait before I need to clone?

My plants are probably 2-3 weeks into flowering.

But some I still am unsure about the sex of some plants, especially the best one that I want to clone off.

They just take longer as they have to root and switch back to veg.

u can take clones any time you like. 21 days is perfect for flowering clones

As advised, the sooner the better, as it will add time whilst they revert back to veg.

I have been reading the Clone FAQ: http://www.overgrow.com/growfaq/1308

and plan to follow this method.

 

These items:

 

Rooting gel

SuperThrive (@ 1 drop/gal)

No Damp (@ 5ml/gal in a spray bottle)

 

do i need them all, and are they available from regular garden stores or do i need to go to a hydro shop?

Also any advice before I start would be greatly appreciated.

na mate u dont need any of that crap. try this. take a cutting and wak in in a glass of water and leave it on ur window sil. change the water every couple of days and in a few weeks u will have roots.

i see people buying clone domes, heat pads and a load of other crap but the truth is you dont NEED any of it.

to get roots in a week or 2 get some jiffy peat pucks or rockwool or whatevea u want to use take ur cuttings dip em in some rooting powder or gel and stick em in ur medium, put em in a bucket with cling wrap over the top and thats it. walah. 2 easy. in a week u will have roots.

why dont you do an experiment so other people who come here can see how easy it is to take clone for next to nothing. u dont even need rooting hormones. it just takes a week or 2 longer without.

that sounds more up my ally.

So if I stick the cutting in some rockwool I dont need to feed it anything till it starts to root?

Then can I just place the wool back into to some soil?

you could feed it but with no roots to take up the food it wont do any good. it depends on taking whatever lil food it can get through the leaves. so the key to success here is the bucket with cling wrap over the top. i like jiffy peat pucks over rockwool but thats just me. and yeah u can just stick the rockwool into the dirt when they are ready.

i cant count how many clones i have taken in my time but i can say i have never had 1 die. not a single one.

what i do is:

get my peat pux and stick em in some water.

grab my bucket and glad wrap.

stick a tea saucer upsidedown in the bucket to create an island for the clones. (optional)

hack at my plant

dip my cuttings in some root strike and stick em in the jiffys

jiffys in the bucket. with a lil water in the bottom of the bucket

glad wrap.

stick em in the grow room and forget about them for a week.
