Auto-Pot System

Recommended Posts

a while back i bought an auto pot sys and a 400w hps lamp for $150 from an old mate. Now: the lamp was cool, cause i could replace the bulb clean it- and would be near as good as a new one :devilred: . BUT- the autopot system, i found, was far too easily stained lol . the res tank it pretty good, all shiny and smooth on the inside. but the actuall containers for the plants where made of a very rough, porouse (shit, i hate spelln! lol ) material. so i opted to never use it: because (imo) over a period of time, salts trapped in the plastic may slowely release into the nutrient solution and stuff me plants. i think the only brillant thing about the system is- it's green and will not stand out in a greenhouse or even out in the bush, and it all packs up nicely into the res tank for total stealth, for storage or transport.

imho a brand new one would not have this problem till sveral grows later, but if it is scrubber and soaked and scrubber again, after EACH crop, you would have no problem getting a good "shelf life" out of the auto pot system :thumbsup . hope i helped

Hmm,

i have to disagree "think its one of those things that sounds good in theory so everyone does it, but in practice it doesn't make a lot of difference whether you do it or not".

Air stones are great. I put one in my resevoir (currently using the councils green waste wheeli bin :sly: ) and i've never looked back. I bought a strong air pump and a golf ball size stone. At the very least, it circlulates the nutes better than a pump can, and keeps my ph at perfect 5.6 (as recomended by Advanced nutes) where as before when using a pump, my PH kept rising.

So of course make ur own minds up, but they get thumbs up from me B)

It probably works better for you because your tank is very deep with little surface area , with a pump on the bottom what happens is your water get turbulants deep in the tank and will mix the nuts ok but its not moving the surface much , so you get little air exchange , if you put a pipe on the the pump so its outlet is near the surface it will work better than a small airstone .

The PH is supposed to rise slighty in a healthy system .
